Creekside Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$15.95
This wine surpassed my expectations. Aromas that hit me hard were tropical fruit with a bit of citrus. A little bit of chalk was in there too. This wine had some nice length. A refreshing acidity. I over chilled this wine after, and it lost some complexity. I would suggest drinking this between 8 to 11C. If I did not always buy a different bottle of wine, I would purchase a case of this right now. At this price, you can't go wrong.

Anthonij Rupert Cape Of Good Hope Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Wo Elandskloof, Western Cape
Western Cape, South Africa$19.95
Excellent character. The nose had both tropical fruit and herbal aromas. I am sure many of you could point out in greater detail the exact aromas, and I bet their would be many. The taste did not have the zippy crispness of what you would find in a New Zealand Sauvignon blanc but nice more complexed flavors.
The wine was great throughout the evening as long as you keep it around 7 or 9C, It dipped to cold and too warm for me a couple of times and then its quality went down rapidly.

Trius Red The Icon 2018, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
A spicy nose with aromas of green bell pepper. Nice tannins, acidity and long finish. The flavors of black fruit with a little oak. I can say, as the night progressed, I found the flavors to be a little more distinctive. I would suggest to decant.

Mulderbosch Faithful Hound 2016, Wo Western Cape
Stellenbosch, South Africa$24.95
It took me a while to try to figure out the best way to describe the nose. I landed on tobacco with some earthy tones combined with dark fruit. I found the balance of acidity and tannins very good. The length was average. I did not find much improvement as the night progressed so I see no reason to decant.

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Marlborough, New Zealand$27.95
Aromas of grapefruit hit me first. That was followed by aromas of cut grass and dill. I was surprised that this wine did not have the crisp acidity that I was expecting. I was disappointed at first that it was not the crisp wine I wanted but then I began to love the nice tropical fruit flavors with a refreshing lime finish.

Cape Of Good Hope Western Slopes Red 2015, Wo Swartland
Swartland, South Africa$24.95
I found the aromas very simple, just your basic dark fruit. But where the aromas lacked, the taste made up for. I found this wine had a very nice balance. I enjoyed the dark fruit and with a hint of dark chocolate on the finish. Only if this had a bit more character, then I would put this in the 90's.
The wine did not evolve throughout the evening, so I see no reason to decant.

Westcott Estate Chardonnay 2019, VQA Niagara Escarpment, Ontario
Ontario, Canada$29.99
This wine has aroma's of chalk and lime zest. It is medium bodied. Nice length. I also detected a pleasant buttery flavor on the finish. I was happy with the the acidity too.
I would suggest to make sure not to have this wine too cold or else any character that this wine has will quickly dissipate. 12C was the best temperature for me for this wine.

Konzelmann Lakeside Series Merlot 2019, Niagara Peninsula VQA
Ontario, Canada$15.95
I received earthy aromas such as potting spoil. Perhaps some dried fruit. The tannins are soft. Some fruit flavors on the finish. This wine was missing some structure, perhaps needed more tannins. Not really a complexed wine either. I guess for $14.95 I should not expect much. This is a good wine for a party with guest that will not critique the wine.

Argyros Atlantis White 2019, P.G.I. Cyclades
Santorini, Greece$22.25
When I poured it in my glass I got aromas of bees wax, when I swirled I was getting passion fruit. I loved the acidity and the beautiful flavors of tropical fruit. This wine was so good that I am surprised that the assyrtiko grape is not that popular. Based on this bottle of wine, this grape deserves much more attention.

Henry Of Pelham Baco Noir Old Vines 2019
Ontario, Canada$19.95
When I first opened this wine, I was getting notes of cherry. Good balance of acidity and tannins. Nice finish with a very tasty flavor of dark fruit. About 20 minutes later, this wine opened up with some aromas of oak and and flavors of oak as well. Sadly, that was a short window because about 20 minutes later, that oak that I mentioned dissipated. Overall, this wine was very tasty. if that oak stayed with the wine throughout the evening, I would have given this even a higher score.
