Redstone Syrah Redstone 2015, Lincoln Lakeshore Bottle
Redstone Syrah Redstone 2015, Lincoln Lakeshore
Ontario, Canada
$40.15

With aromas of cassis, cherry, black pepper and oak I was pretty excited to taste this. Unfortunately i felt the taste was a little bit of a let down. The wine was such a dark colour that I expected some strong flavor, but it was lacking balance (weak on tannin and too much acidity) and any of the dark fruit flavors that I enjoy in a syrah.
I had a glass of Syrah with my lunch when I was at the winery and thought it was fantastic. I think that it was a later vintage. I assume this wine may have been better a year or two ago when the tannins would have been a little bolder.

Dark fruit and oak on the nose. I was tasting dark fruit with mild tannin's. A solid wine for under $20.

The aromas were great. Mostly grapefruit with a hint of banana and pineapple. My first sip I experienced a very light creamy mouth feel. This was a nice balanced wine. Nice citrus flavors. I even thought to myself "if I had to drink this wine for the rest of my life, I would still be happy".

On the nose I was getting cassis and spice. I was tasting some fruit. I was thinking a wine version of fruit punch (a mix of fruit, but I could not pin point it). Over the evening, I did not notice much change in the wine so I see no reason to decant. Overall, it was an average wine. 88 is good but not great. But, this is one of the lower end wines from Whynns. If this is a low end wine from them. I would love to taste the higher end wines.

When I first inhaled, I got tobacco and and earthy aromas. I was excited to taste this wine after these wonderful aromas. On the palate, I was tasting cherry. I also noticed that the acidity and tannin's were not quite as smooth as I was hoping. Tannin's and acidity were not over powering but just not balanced. Over the next hour I was hoping that more flavors would developed, but no such luck. It was an okay wine, but after such a promising start on the nose, it felt like a disappointing finish.

Nose of apple, I want to say a hint of banana but maybe I was crazy :)
Nice balanced wine. I enjoyed the level acidity. I tasted a hint of butter, (until I over cooled the wine). Overall, I enjoyed this.

Once I opened the bottle, I was getting cassis and cherry with a a hint of oak. I tasted a wine that seemed more acidic than I would have expected for a grenach. The finish was hot too. But then about 20 minutes later the heat and acidity calmed down and it was more pleasant. This was a nice wine to sip over the evening.

The first aroma that popped out for me was citronella candle. I also picked out hints of flint and melon.
This is a full bodied wine with medium length.
Nice acidity and not over powering. Flavors of tree fruit with the taste of pineapple on the finish.

It had aromas of cassis along with other dark fruit. I was surprised with how balanced the wine was. I was expecting the tannin's to over power the wine for a while, but right from the start it was petty smooth. It had a nice finish best described as spiced oak. From when I first opened the bottle to my last glass about two hours later, I did not find that the wine evolved too much. I personally see no need to decant this wine.
