Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Tawse Riesling Quarry Road 2017, Vinemount Ridge
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Lovely, highly aromatic nose has exotic notes of mineral, petrol, peach and floral. It is medium-sweet with very nice, complex aroma replays plus green apple and stone fruit notes. It has very good fruit concentration and depth on the medium+ bodied palate, while acids are juicy and well-balanced. Long, persistent finish. Tasted Aug/2019.
Southbrook Heather's Home Vineyard Riesling 2017, VQA Vinemount Ridge
Ontario, Canada$22.95
Clone 21 Riesling. Screw cap. Lovely, linear, medium-high intensity aromatics of lime citrus, white peach, wet stone, and limestone minerality. The palate is medium+ bodied, fleshy and just off-dry with more lime citrus, peach and stony mineral flavours, and a whiff of honey. Nicely balanced with brilliant acidity providing freshness. Lovely wet stone notes linger on the long finish. Tasted Dec/2018.
Rocca Delle Macìe Famiglia Zingarelli Riserva Chianti Classico 2016, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The medium intensity nose delivers red cherry, clove, and spice tones surrounding a savoury core. The medium+ bodied palate has spicy aroma replays supported by fresh, vibrant acids. Tannins have some structure and are a touch grippy. Long, tannic finish. Needs 3-4 years of cellar time. Tasted Sept/2019.
Château Maucoil 2016, Ac Côtes Du Rhône Villages
Rhône, France$19.95
This organic wine is a blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 25% Carignan with rich aromatics offering ripe blackberry, black cherry, black plum and peppery spice accented with subtle oak and stony minerality notes. The medium-full bodied palate is bright with lively acidity with blackberry, black cherry, and cocoa-dusted flavours. Supple tannins are a touch tight, leading to a dusty textured and a cocoa, blackberry and stony mineral flavoured finish, with very good length. Enjoyable now, but better in 2 years and enjoy over the next 5-6 years. Recommended buy. Tasted Mar/2019.
Col D'orcia Brunello Di Montalcino 2014, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$53.95
This organic Brunello is made with 100% Sangiovese and offers an highly aromatic nose of sweet cinnamon and clove spices mingling with red cherry, rose floral, and dried cherry aromas. It's full-bodied with earthy and wood spice flavours followed by appealing aroma replays. A touch warming on the mid-palate, but still well-balanced with very good acidity and dusty, grippy tannins. Savoury and earthy notes linger on the long finish. Drink to 2030. Tasted Sept/2019.
Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2016, Clare Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$21.95
Complex plummy, blueberry, blackberry, mulberry, peppery, spice, and some meaty aromas and flavours. It is medium-full bodied with smooth, supple tannins and cool-climate freshness. Some earthy notes on the mid-palate and dry flavour profile. Excellent finish length. Tasted Apr/2019.

Medium-high intensity nose is complex with savoury, earthy, forest floor, sour cherry, oak spice, green pepper and herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely mouthfeel and refined tannins that are nicely integrated. Very nice aroma replays and balanced acidity. Excellent finish length. Tasted Nov/2018.
