Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Cave De Roquebrun Granges Des Combes 2015
Languedoc, France$18.95
Raised in tank. 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache, and 20% Mourvèdre. The fragrant nose is elegant, mature, and complex with lovely dried dark berry, plum, dried florals, herbs, spices, olive, and mushroom with savoury, meaty, and smoky mineral hints. It's medium-full bodied with flavours of dried dark berry, smoky mineral, purple fruit, and plum in a spicy profile that's supported by juicy, well-balanced acidity. Structured tannins are quite grippy and chalky, while the alcohol is slightly warming, but still balanced. Savoury with smoky minerals linger on the very long, chalky finish. Tasted Jan/2022.
Inniskillin Vidal Icewine 2015, VQA Niagara Peninsula (375ml)
Ontario, Canada$49.95
Highly aromatic aromas of honey, apricot, ginger and sweet Meyer lemon waft from the glass. The palate is medium-full bodied and lusciously sweet with honeyed aroma replays. There's good, balanced acidity in here to keeps things fresh and not cloying. Fine length on the finish. Tasted Aug/2017. Score: 90+ pts
Bachelder Oregon Chardonnay 2014, Willamette Valley
Oregon, Usa$24.95
The medium+ intensity nose offers mineral, stone fruit, and pear aromas. It's fairly light-to-mid weighted with a fine mineral texture on the palate and lovely aroma replays. Fresh acids are very good and the finish length is excellent. Tasted Apr/2017. Score: 90+ pts
Rioja Vega Crianza 2014, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$16.95
The perfumed medium-high intensity nose has aromas of sweet wood spice, cherry, earth, brett, and mushroom notes. The medium bodied palate offers supple, nicely rounded tannins with red berry, cherry, and raspberry flavours balanced with juicy acids. Curranty notes come through on the medium-long finish. Tasted Oct/2017.
Henry Of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Chardonnay 2015, VQA Short Hills Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$29.95
Highly aromatic nose offers smoky buttered popcorn followed by golden apple and pear notes, all of which come through deliciously on the balanced, nicely textured, and medium-bodied palate. Vibrant acids keep things fresh, while the finish length is excellent. Tasted Apr/2017.
La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2015, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County
California, Usa$34.95
Medium-high intensity aromas of red cherry, raspberry, sweet tobacco, earth and whiffs of black tea and strawberry. The palate is medium bodied and fleshy with a mixed berry medley of blackberry, cherry, and blueberry flavours layered on top of oak spice notes. Some tea leaf notes on the mid-palate. Succulent acids are fresh and juicy. Fine tannins offer a smooth mouthfeel. Cherry, earth, exotic spice, and tea leaf notes linger on the long finish. I really like the subtle tea leaf note that's found throughout. A fine, balanced wine to enjoy over the next 3-4 years. Tasted Sept/2017.
Cave Spring Csv Chardonnay 2015, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$29.95
From 41-year old vines, 100% barrel fermented and aged for 10 months in French oak barriques and puncheons, this has a richly buttered nose of apple, pear, and lemon aromas of medium-high intensity. It has a medium+ body that is rich and buttery with, apple, vanilla and well-integrated oak flavours. Nicely textured with crisp, balanced acidity. Excellent finish length. Still a bit young - age this 1-2 years. Tasted Sept/2017.

Marlborough, New Zealand$48.95
Medium-high intensity aromas of sour cherry, strawberry, beet root, earth and mushroom, all of which come through in a nicely balanced fashion on the medium bodied palate. Tannins are light and velvety, while acids are very good. Finishes long and smooth. Tasted May/2017.
