Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Grgich Hills Fumé Blanc Dry Sauvignon Blanc 2015, Napa Valley
California, Usa$47.95
Clean, elegant, oak influenced herb, lime peel, and grapefruit aromas and flavours, all in a reductive style. It has a rounded texture with nicely balanced acids. Herbally and guava flavours come to the fore on the mid-palate. Juicy, long finish. Tasted Apr/2018.

Dr. Siemens Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese Feinherb 2009, Prädikatswein
Mosel, Germany$19.95
Pours medium-deep yellow, offering a mature, medium+ intensity nose of citrus, honeyed, lemon, and apple tones. Still has vibrant, finely-tuned acids on the medium-sweet palate. Very good fruit flavours with some leesy hints. Shows fine balance throughout, with brilliant acidity keeping the sweetness in check. Finish length is excellent. Even at 10 years of age, this has many years to go. Tasted Aug/2019.
Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2014, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$47.95
Blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Highly aromatic with lovely red cherry, cinnamon, and oak spice. The medium-full bodied palate offers nicely balanced aroma replays with savoury touches supported by bright acidity. It's a touch warm, but concentrated fruit holds it up well. Excellent finish length. Firm tannins need 3-4 years to settle down. Drink by 2030. Tasted Oct/2018.
Closson Chase Vineyard Chardonnay 2016, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$29.95
The nose is slightly reserved, offering hints of apple, pear, peach, butter and vanilla aromas. On the medium-full bodied palate, the aromas are nicely played out with very good, crunchy fruit, and nice depth. Hints of nut and earthiness add complexity. Nicely balanced overall with richness and hints of buttery vanilla notes on the very long finish. Tasted Apr/2018.

Paxton Mv Shiraz 2016, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$19.95
Quite intense on the nose with lovely savoury, blackberry, earthy, and meaty aromas with hints of black pepper, licorice and oak. It is full-ish bodied on the palate with finely-grained and structured tannins. Nicely textured with juicy acids freshening the palate. On the flavour profile, there are blackberry, licorice, cedar oak spice, and vanillin notes with some peppery hints, all of which lingers nicely on the long, balanced finish. Tasted June/2019. Score: 90+ pts
El Esteco Malbec 2015, Valle De Calchaquí

Medium-high intensity nose is earthy with dark berry, blackberry, and some oak spice notes. The medium-full bodied palate is elegant with refined, grippy tannins and balanced acidity. Complex flavours of of spice, earth, graphite mineral, and floral that linger through to the long, balanced finish. Tasted Aug/2019.
Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir 2014, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley
Oregon, Usa$37.95
Showing some maturity, this has an elegant and highly aromatic nose of tea leaf, dark cherry/berry, and beetroot. The medium+ body has a nice, plush mouthfeel with very nice aroma replays, plus forest floor and earthy notes adding complexity. Wood is nicely integrated. It was very good acidity and excellent finish length. Drinking really well right now. Tasted Apr/2018.
