Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Esterházy Estoras Blaufränkisch 2021, Dac Leithaberg
Burgenland, Austria$19.95
The lifted and inviting nose is fresh, bright, and fruity with red and black berry fruited, black cherry, strawberry, and peppery spice, plus hints of savoury earth. The medium+ bodied palate is dry with very nicely balanced aroma replays supported by well-balanced acidity and light, pleasingly textured tannins that offer a supple grip. More savoury nuances to the dark and black cherry notes on the long finish. Tasted Oct. 2025.
Villacreces Pruno 2022, Do Ribera Del Duero
Ribera Del Duero, Spain$24.95
This blend of 93% Tempranillo, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Merlot has a generous nose that is ripe and plummy with dark red cherry-berry, and red licorice aromas. The medium+ bodied palate is fruity with dark berry, cherry, and oak spice flavours supported by tannins that are a touch grippy and chalky textured. It's crunchy with good structure on the mid-palate, while delicious savoury notes are joined by dark red berry-cherry notes on the satisfyingly long finish. Tasted June 2025.
Altanza Gran Reserva 2016, D.O.Ca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$32.95
This lovely Tempranillo has a fresh, lifted nose of coconut, red cherry, floral, sweet oak spice, and dried herb aromas, all of which echo very nicely on the full-bodied, dry palate. It has juicy acidity and well-structured tannins. Well-balanced throughout with juiciness on the long finish. Tasted Sept. 2023. Score: 91+ pts
Eclipse Montepulciano D' Abruzzo 2008, Doc
Abruzzo, Italy$8.25
2007 vintage. Aromas of black cherry, fig, pepper and earth. Ripe, dark fruits on the palate with juicy, ripe tannins. Light bodied red wine. Very good for a house wine at a restaurant. Tasted Feb/2012.
Grant Burge Cameron Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Barossa, South Australia
Australia$15.95
2009 Vintage. Dark fruit, blackcurrant, vanillan and oak aromas. On the palate there is lots of cassis and blackcurrant in this medium-bodied wine. Evident tannins will reward ageing another 2-3 years. Very good Cab Sauv. Tasted May/2012.
Château Ampelia 2005, Ac Côtes De Castillon
Bordeaux, France$25.00
Some oak resin aromas from cork. Earthy, cedar, dark fruit, and some plum aromas. Fairly straightforward on the palate with dark and red fruits, finishing with pepper and some mocha notes. Full bodied wine. Tannins integrating nicely, but still need more time. This should drink well for at least another 4-5 years. Bought for $20. Tasted Mar/2012.
Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 2008, South Australia
Australia$17.95
Red berries, touch of earth aromas. Gentle ripe fruit, currants and light oak on the palate. Medium-full bodied. Chalky tannins really get onto your teeth - will definitely have to brush well tonight! Not big and uncomplicated. Good, everyday wine that will go well with many simple meat dishes, including curries and pastas. Tasted Aug/2011.
Vineland Estates Elevation Chardonnay 2007, VQA Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$20.75
2011 vintage. Clean intense lime aromas. Well-balanced and refreshing on the palate with more lime and mineral flavours. Long finish. Serve well-chilled. Tasted Sept/2012.
Château Des Charmes St. David's Bench Chardonnay 2007, VQA St. David's Bench, Niagara Peninsula

2009 vintage. Melon aromas follow through on palate, leading to fresh, clean mineral notes. Full-bodied with crisp acidity. Tasted June 2012.
Red Knot Shiraz 2008, Mclaren Vale, South Australia

Interesting resin cork. Ripe raspberry, herbal spice aromas. Straightforward and uncomplicated Shiraz with gobs of red berries, along with cedar oak flavours. Chewy, ripe tannins. Medium-bodied. Good, easy-drinking AU Shiraz. Tasted Feb/2012.
