Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Heinrich Vollmer Altum Spätburgunder Dry 2008, Qualitätswein
Pfalz, Germany$21.95
This mature Pinot Noir has medium-high balanced rustic aromas of cherry, oak spices and light hints of earthy-smokiness. On the palate, it's medium-weighted dried cherry, black cherry and integrated oak flavours. It has dusty tannins, very good acids and a lengthy finish. Tasted July/2015.
Fred Loimer Lois Grüner Veltliner 2013

Fresh aromas of medium+ intensity with a nose of strawberry, rose, cherry and grapefruit. It's light-to-medium bodied and off-dry on the palate with more grapefruit, cherry and hints of honey flavours. Very fresh mouthfeel with zippy, refreshing acids. Good length on the finish. Tasted Aug/2014.
Radio Boka 2012, Valencia

Screw cap. Medium+ intensity nose with aromas of deli meats, cherry, strawberry and hints of milk chocolate. Full bodied with big, plumpy tannins. Plum, dark cherry, pruney and hint of cassis flavour profile. Green pepper notes develop with time. Slightly sweet, with good acids and a medium-long, slightly warm finish. Pretty good for $11. Tasted July/2014.
Kacaba Vineyards Susan's Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.95
Medium-high aromatics featuring typical New Zealand style gooseberry, grass, kiwi and nettle aromas. Medium+ bodied on the palate with pleasing aroma replays with a kiss of sweetness. A bit flabby. Lengthy finish. Tasted Jan/2015.
Lawson's Dry Hills Gewürztraminer 2011, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$19.95
Medium-high aromas showing elegant lychee, lees and floral notes. Light-to-medium bodied on the palate with lychee, spice and citrus flavours. It's medium-dry in sweetness with good acids and a long finish that has hints of bitterness. Tasted May/2014.
Talamonti Trabocchetto Pecorino 2012, Igp Colline Pescaresi
Abruzzo, Italy$15.95
100% Pecorino. Inviting lemon and nectarine aromas from the cork. Quite aromatic with wet hay, flinty, and lemon aromas in the glass. Dry on the palate, quite full-ish with lemon, grapefruit, peach and green apple flavours. Has balanced acids and very good length with lemony flavours on the finish. Some saltiness mid-palate continues on to the finish. Drink soon. Tasted May/2015.
Hinterbrook Sauvignon Blanc 2013, VQA Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$12.75
This white wine has medium-high intensity aromas showing gooseberry, fresh cut grass, grapefruit, kiwi and lime, with much of the same on medium-bodied palate. Acids are balanced and fresh, while the finish is lengthy and slightly warm. Reminds me of NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Tasted Jan/2015.
Hinterbrook Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Ontario, Canada$23.00
Medium intensity nose showing sweet ripe fruits, lush red berries and sweet vanillan. Medium-to-full bodied palate with flavours of currants, cassis, vanillan and oak. Tannins are nicely integrated and has balanced acids. Grilled pepper notes on the long finish. Easy drinker. Tasted Jan/2015.
Southbrook Triomphe Sauvignon Blanc 2013, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.75
Stelvin screw cap. Medium intensity, elegant lime and mineral nose with hints of lychee, floral and citrus coming from the 5% (Reimer Vineyard) Gewürztraminer that adds some interesting complexity. Honeyed fruits with floral tones lead the way on medium-bodied palate. Also notable pink grapefruit flavours. Bright acids are nicely balanced, while finish long and honeyed. Slightly off-dry. 95% Laundry Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. Certified organic and vegan-friendly. Not your typical Savvy, but tasty nonetheless. Recommended. Tasted Sept/2014.
