Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Hugh Hamilton Jim Jim Cabernet Sauvignon 2022, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$19.95
The fresh, medium-high intensity nose delivers ripe currant, cassis, red fruit, green herbs, evergreen, and bell pepper aromas, plus accents of vanilla and oak. The dry, full-bodied palate has good structure and smooth, well-rounded tannins. Very nice, well-balanced aroma replays on the flavour profile. Touch grippy on the mid-palate, alongside very good acidity. Savoury earth and oak spice notes linger on the long finish. Tasted May 2025.

This has a lovely, fresh, medium-high intensity nose of paraffin, waxy, and beeswax aromas nuanced with grapefruit and citrus in a quite complex profile. It's medium-full bodied with impressive weight and concentration in a dry flavour profile that echoes the aromas. It's nicely balanced with crisp acidity. The finish is crisp with very good length. Tasted May 2025. Score: 90+ pts

Abruzzo, Italy$8.25
2007 vintage. Aromas of black cherry, fig, pepper and earth. Ripe, dark fruits on the palate with juicy, ripe tannins. Light bodied red wine. Very good for a house wine at a restaurant. Tasted Feb/2012.
Grant Burge Cameron Vale Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, Barossa, South Australia
Australia$15.95
2009 Vintage. Dark fruit, blackcurrant, vanillan and oak aromas. On the palate there is lots of cassis and blackcurrant in this medium-bodied wine. Evident tannins will reward ageing another 2-3 years. Very good Cab Sauv. Tasted May/2012.
Château Ampelia 2005, Ac Côtes De Castillon
Bordeaux, France$25.00
Some oak resin aromas from cork. Earthy, cedar, dark fruit, and some plum aromas. Fairly straightforward on the palate with dark and red fruits, finishing with pepper and some mocha notes. Full bodied wine. Tannins integrating nicely, but still need more time. This should drink well for at least another 4-5 years. Bought for $20. Tasted Mar/2012.
