Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Closson Chase Churchside Pinot Noir 2019, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$42.00
Lovely, highly aromatic nose delivers complex and elegant red berry, currant, sour cherry, strawberry, black tea leaf aromas, all of which come through in spades on the palate with lovely balance and impressive depth and structure. Refreshing acids lift the palate, while tannins are smooth and refined. Excellent length on the finish. Tasted Apr. 2022.
Cave Spring Csv Riesling 2019, Cave Spring Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$31.95
From mature vines grown on limestone-clay soils, fermented with indigenous yeasts in both tank and neutral barrels, and aged for 10 months sur lie. Gorgeous, highly aromatic nose has lovely notes of honey, peach, apricot, and subtle limestone mineral. Dry on the structured and textured palate with lemon/lime citrus, plus subtle oak nuances on the flavour profile. Excellent length on the long, textured, and slightly chalky finish. Tasted Apr. 2022.
Stags' Leap Winery Petite Sirah 2018, Napa Valley
California, Usa$60.95
Primarily Petite Sirah. Elegantly perfumed aromas of black and blue berry, dark plum, peppery spice, and cocoa, with some wood spice and reductive notes rise out of the glass. It's full-bodied and well-structured on the palate with juicy, ripe black and blue fruit, pepper, spices, and cocoa flavours with touches of smoky mineral and black raspberry adding further complexity. Acids are fresh, vibrant, and juicy, while the firm tannins are structured and grainy. Nicely balanced throughout with savoury, smoky mineral, and cocoa notes lingering on the very long finish. Tasted Jan. 2023.
Château Prieuré Lichine 2016, 4e Cru Classé, Ac Margaux, Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France$113.95
Blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. Rich, complex, dark and red fruited, brooding aromas of spice, currant, and cassis mixed with savoury, earthy, oak, and touches of sweet tobacco and herb. It's medium-full bodied on the elegantly spiced palate, slightly warm, with lovely currant, cassis, tobacco, and earthy notes on the flavour profile. It has very good acidity and structured, fine-grained tannins that are quite integrated with a pleasant grippiness. Savoury, earthy tones with touches of graphite linger on the finish, with excellent length. Tasted Dec/2020.
Vasse Felix Chardonnay 2017, Margaret River, Western Australia
Western Australia, Australia$39.95
Lovely, highly aromatic and very complex nose is buttery, flinty, smoky, and minerally with pear and yellow apple aromas. It has very nice aroma replays joined by saline notes on the full-bodied, concentrated palate. Acids are well-balanced on the long, juicy finish. Gorgeous! Tasted Jan/2020.
Col D'orcia Brunello Di Montalcino 2015, Docg, Tuscany
Tuscany, Italy$55.95
Organic. Lovely, elegant, perfumed and very complex aromas of red cherry, sweet tobacco, earth, and leather with touches of rosemary, herb, dried rose floral, and balsamic wafting out of the glass. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with savoury, earthy, oak, clove, and red cherry flavours. Acids are succulent and juicy while firm tannins are grippy. Savoury, bitter chocolate, and earthy notes linger on the long, persistent, and grippy finish. While enjoyable now, this should improve further with about 3 years in the cellar and drink well into the early 2030s. Tasted Oct/2020.
Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel 2016, Dry Creek Valley
California, Usa$61.95
From vines planted in 1972 on gravelly loam soils called Cortina. The medium-high intensity aromatics seem a bit shy, offering subtle bramble, blackberry, and baking spice notes. The full-bodied, concentrated palate is dry and spicy with more dark berry flavours and polished tannins. Vibrant acidity lifts while the long finish has touches of stony minerality. Still quite young and will improve with time. Tasted Apr/2019.
Patrick Lesec Galets Blonds Châteauneuf Du Pape 2017, Ac
Rhône, France$60.95
Rich, medium-high intensity aromas deliver ripe blackberry, raspberry, and smoky crushed rocks with touches of pepper spice. It's medium-full to full-bodied on the palate with lovely aroma replays joined by some dried herb and gentle oak spice flavours. Good fruit concentration holds up well to the slightly warming alcohol, lifted by mouthwatering acidity. Fine-grained, slightly chalky tannins are nicely textured. Stony mineral, wood spice, and blackberry notes linger on the long finish, with excellent length. Tasted Sept/2020.
Lornano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2012, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$45.95
Made with 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot that spent 30 months in new oak barrels, this has a fairly intense and maturing nose of sweet spice with hints of dried cherry and floral, and forest floor aromas. It's medium-full bodied with good fruit concentration and balanced, juicy acids. Very nice aroma replays on the palate, joined by hints of leather. Excellent length on the finish, if a touch hot. Tasted Oct/2019.
