Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.

Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel 2016, Dry Creek Valley

From vines planted in 1972 on gravelly loam soils called Cortina. The medium-high intensity aromatics seem a bit shy, offering subtle bramble, blackberry, and baking spice notes. The full-bodied, concentrated palate is dry and spicy with more dark berry flavours and polished tannins. Vibrant acidity lifts while the long finish has touches of stony minerality. Still quite young and will improve with time. Tasted Apr/2019.

Lornano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2017, Docg

100% Sangiovese. Fresh, medium-high to highly aromatic nose is a touch funky, but blows off to reveal a complex mix of attractive black-blue-red fruits, clove oak spice, forest floor, and herbal aromas. It's medium-full bodied with elegant tannins and fresh acidity which lifts the savoury aroma replays on the flavour profile. Well-balanced with a touch of grip on the exceptionally long finish. Enjoy to the end of the decade. Tasted Oct. 2023.

Richly fragrant, fresh & spicy on the highly aromatic nose w/ a lovely mélange of red & black fruits, currant, cassis, grilled herbs & savoury earth aromas with a touch of barnyard & anise adding further complexity. It's full-bodied & dry w/ ripe, chewy, elegant & well-structured tannins. Lovely, rich flavours of red & black fruits, black cherry, currant, cassis, grilled herbs, oak spice & earth flavours. A touch palate warming on mid-palate, but still balanced, while acids are fresh & juicy. Grilled herbs, dark fruits & smoky earth notes linger on the long, elegant finish. Tasted Sept. 2023.

Lovely, open, fragrant & highly aromatic on the nose w/ earthy/stony minerals flecked w/ lemon citrus, apple, pear & herbal aromas, plus touches of pleasant bitter notes adding further savoury characters. The medium-full bodied, well-structured palate is very impressively concentrated. Dry w/ stony mineral flavours layered over lemon citrus, apple, pear & green herbal notes supported by crisp, juicy acidity. Nicely textured on the gently spicy mid-palate, while oyster-shell notes join the stony mineral, apple, pear & lemon replays on the exceptionally long, balanced finish. Tasted Sept. 2023.

A blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 15% Syrah grown at 400 metres elevation on pebbly limestone terroir that has a ripe, medium-high intensity nose of wild berry, blackberry, sweet and peppery spices. It's medium-full bodied with very nice, ripe fruited aroma replays plus stony mineral and spice adding complexity. Quite structured with fine tannins, balanced acids, and some warmth on the mid-palate. Excellent finish length with a slightly chalky textured mouthfeel on the finish. Tasted Jan/2020.

The nose is fragrant and inviting with lovely black tea, dark berry-cherry, smoky, and raspberry aromas with some reductive characters. On the light-to-medium bodied palate it is dry with very nice dark fruited, savoury, earthy, and stony flavours. It has fresh, balanced acidity, along with light, elegant tannins. The finish is long and crisp. Tasted Apr. 2024.

Composed of 95% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo, and 2% Colorino grown in Vagliagli UGA, this has a lovely, medium-high intensity, ripe and perfumed nose of sweet spices, red and black cherry aromas. On the medium-full to full-bodied palate it has very good concentration with and very nice aroma replays joined by mineral, tobacco, and herbs adding complexity to the dry flavour profile. It's elegantly structured with youthful, chalky tannins and juicy acidity. Finish is long and warming, yet well-balanced. Tasted May 2022.

Impressively concentrated on dry, medium+ to medium-full bodied palate w/ rich & lovely honeyed, nutty, vanilla oak spice surrounding core of ripe orchard fruit, nectarine & floral. Nicely textured w/ very good structure & juicy, mouth-watering acidity. Somewhat youthful on structured & textured finish w/ tangy stone fruit & flinty mineral notes lingering on finish, w/ excellent length. Tasted Dec. 2024.

It's medium to medium-full bodied with very good weight and structure on the palate. Lovely sweet spices, raspberry, and strawberry replays, plus touches of cedary oak and cherry adding further interest. Tannins are lightly grippy and supported by fresh acidity. Excellent finish length. Still a bit young and a beauty! Tasted Apr. 2023. Score: 93+ pts
