Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.

Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.

Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

A blend of primarily Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, this fresh red berry, cherry, and raspberry scented Châteauneuf-du-Pape is full-bodied with lovely aroma replays plus spice and licorice flavours. Some stony mineral notes arrive on the mid-palate. Acids are fresh and well-balanced while tannins have some structure. Poised, persistent finish with excellent length. Tasted Nov/2019.

Screw cap. The medium-high intensity nose offers an initial flinty, sulphide, yeasty mineral, and lightly nose tingling experience, but laying underneath are rich, ripe and complex aromas of stone fruit, pear, apple, peach, citrus, floral, and grapefruit with touches of honey. On the rich, ripe, concentrated, and creamy palate are off-dry flavours of poached pear, ginger, honey, and spice. Slightly warming on the mid-palate, but still well-balanced with juicy acidity. Honeyed ginger, citrus, spice, and yeasty minerals linger on the long finish, with excellent length. Tasted Dec/2021.

Elegantly fragrant and highly aromatic, this Sangiovese has attractive red and black fruits, cherry, currant, fine sweet wood spices, and rose floral aromas. On the elegant, medium-full bodied palate it is dry with slender, structured, and gritty textured tannins joined with fresh acidity that delivers lovely, well-balanced aroma replays. Tapers to a savoury, long, crisp, and structured finish, with excellent length. Tasted Nov. 2023.

Rich, medium-high intensity aromas deliver ripe blackberry, raspberry, and smoky crushed rocks with touches of pepper spice. It's medium-full to full-bodied on the palate with lovely aroma replays joined by some dried herb and gentle oak spice flavours. Good fruit concentration holds up well to the slightly warming alcohol, lifted by mouthwatering acidity. Fine-grained, slightly chalky tannins are nicely textured. Stony mineral, wood spice, and blackberry notes linger on the long finish, with excellent length. Tasted Sept/2020.

It’s medium+ bodied, elegant, and quite concentrated with pleasing black cherry, mulberry, and cassis flavours with subtle oak spice notes. Nicely balanced throughout with clean acids and fine tannins. Lovely earthy, forest floor, and black cherry notes linger on the long finish, with excellent length. Tasted Mar/2020.

The fresh, perfumed medium-high to highly aromatic nose offers captivating aromas of sweet wood spice, tangy red cherry, citrusy aromas. The dry, full-bodied palate is firmly structured with lovely aroma replays echoing on the palate. It has fresh acidity and big, firm tannins that need time to unwind. Tangy red cherry and citrus notes linger on the long, tight finish. I would tuck this away for 5+ years and enjoy to 2040. Tasted Nov. 2023.
