Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2023, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$28.95
Perhaps better than ever, this has a fresh, highly aromatic nose that is ripe with kiwi, guava, passion fruit, gooseberry, and nettle aromas, plus mineral and grassy notes adding further complexity. The creamy, medium bodied palate is dry with good weight and a finely tuned acidity. All the aromas come through with exquisite balance on the flavour profile, while leesy mineral and spice notes linger on the very long finish. Tasted Oct. 2024.

66/34 Shiraz & Mataro. Elegant, fragrant, medium-high to highly aromatic nose of ripe, sweet black and purple fruits, blackberry, black cherry & potpourri aromas with accents of savoury earth, iron & minty herbs. It's medium-full to full-bodied w/ well-structured, rustic tannins & black-purple fruited & savoury flavours of blackberry, blk cherry, sweet cassis, peppery spice & graphite w/ persistent savoury mineral & cocoa characters. Acids are crisp & juicy. Some spice notes on mid-palate taper to savoury graphite & mineral flavours on long, grippy finish, w/ excellent length. Tasted Apr. 2024.
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$24.95
Screw cap. Ripe, medium-high intensity nose delivers guava, kiwi, passion fruit, tropical fruit, gooseberry, and citrus aromas with a fine mineral underpinning. It is medium-bodied with good weight to the fruit and slightly creamy textured. Zesty citrus, ripe kiwi, guava, and passion fruit flavours with touches of spice and floral are lifted by the fresh, vibrant acidity. Fine mineral and lime zest notes linger on the long, crisp finish, with excellent length. Lovely, as always. Tasted Feb/2020.
Barón De Ley Gran Reserva 2015, D.O.Ca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$34.95
Lovely, slowly emerging & complex aromas of Indian spices, red and black cherry, underbrush, forest floor, olive, pot pourri & sandalwood rise out of the glass. It's medium-full to full-bodied with very good depth & delicious flavours of red and black cherry, spices, cedar wood, underbrush, and forest floor in a dry, lightly tangy profile. It has very good, juicy acidity, while the well-structured, dusty textured tannins are lightly chalky & grippy on the back palate. Cedary, sandalwood, and earthy notes linger on the long savoury finish, with excellent length. Tasted June 2023. Score: 92+ pts

Jean Max Roger Cuvée Genèse Sancerre 2018, Ac Loire
Loire, France$33.95
Intense, stony mineral aromas are layered over fresh, ripe lemon/lime citrus and white floral notes. It's quite full and powerful on the palate with some warmth due to the hot vintage, but still well-balanced with floral, lime, and stony flavours and lively, juicy, mouth-watering acidity. Tangy mid-palate with a pleasing chalky texture. Stony mineral notes linger on the long finish. Lovely! Tasted Dec/2020. Score: 91+ pts
