Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Palmer Brut Reserve Champagne, Ac, France
Champagne, France$85.95
Rich and elegantly fragrant, the medium-high to highly aromatic nose has a lovely, complex mix of biscuit, toasty, brioche, autolytic, lemon citrus, and pear/apple aromas, plus leesy mineral accents. The mid-weighted palate is crisp and refreshing with lovely autolytic, lemon citrus, brioche, toasty, pear, and apple replays on the flavour profile. It has an elegant mouthfeel with crisp acidity and a fine bead of bubbles. Harmonious and well-balanced throughout with fine citrus, toasty, and leesy mineral notes joined by white florals on the long, crisp, and elegant finish. Tasted Dec. 2024.
Cave Spring Csv Riesling 2019, Cave Spring Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$31.95
From mature vines grown on limestone-clay soils, fermented with indigenous yeasts in both tank and neutral barrels, and aged for 10 months sur lie. Gorgeous, highly aromatic nose has lovely notes of honey, peach, apricot, and subtle limestone mineral. Dry on the structured and textured palate with lemon/lime citrus, plus subtle oak nuances on the flavour profile. Excellent length on the long, textured, and slightly chalky finish. Tasted Apr. 2022.
Domaine Hamelin Beauroy Chablis 1er Cru 2019, Ac
Burgundy, France$41.95
100% Chardonnay. Elegantly fragrant and ripe on the nose with fresh citrus, apple and pear aromas with hints of lactic and shell minerality. It's ripe and fleshy on the medium-full bodied, textured palate with fresh, clean, and bright acidity. Lovely lemon citrus, apple, pear, and butter flavours taper to a minerally, citrusy, and crisp finish, with excellent length. Beautiful! Tasted June 2022. Score: 93+ pts
Col D'orcia Brunello Di Montalcino 2015, Docg, Tuscany
Tuscany, Italy$55.95
Organic. Lovely, elegant, perfumed and very complex aromas of red cherry, sweet tobacco, earth, and leather with touches of rosemary, herb, dried rose floral, and balsamic wafting out of the glass. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with savoury, earthy, oak, clove, and red cherry flavours. Acids are succulent and juicy while firm tannins are grippy. Savoury, bitter chocolate, and earthy notes linger on the long, persistent, and grippy finish. While enjoyable now, this should improve further with about 3 years in the cellar and drink well into the early 2030s. Tasted Oct/2020.
Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel 2016, Dry Creek Valley
California, Usa$61.95
From vines planted in 1972 on gravelly loam soils called Cortina. The medium-high intensity aromatics seem a bit shy, offering subtle bramble, blackberry, and baking spice notes. The full-bodied, concentrated palate is dry and spicy with more dark berry flavours and polished tannins. Vibrant acidity lifts while the long finish has touches of stony minerality. Still quite young and will improve with time. Tasted Apr/2019.
Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Coonawarra, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$44.95
The medium-high intensity nose is fragrant & open with attractive aromas of leafy grilled herbs, red & black fruits, currant, cherry, cassis & fine wood spice with touches of mint and savoury earth. It's full-bodied, ripe & dry with lovely red and black fruited cherry, currant, cassis, mint, and leafy herb flavours on the palate. It's well-structured with fresh, juicy acidity and ripe, structured, and fine-grained tannins that are youthful and a touch grippy. More savoury with earth and wood spice notes on the mid-palate, which linger through to the long, gently smoky finish. Tasted Dec. 2023.
Lornano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2012, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$45.95
Made with 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot that spent 30 months in new oak barrels, this has a fairly intense and maturing nose of sweet spice with hints of dried cherry and floral, and forest floor aromas. It's medium-full bodied with good fruit concentration and balanced, juicy acids. Very nice aroma replays on the palate, joined by hints of leather. Excellent length on the finish, if a touch hot. Tasted Oct/2019.
Domaine Yvon & Laurent Vocoret Fourchaume Chablis 1er Cru 2021, A.C.
Burgundy, France$52.95
Lovely, highly aromatic nose has flinty-earthy mineral aromas layered over lemon citrus and white floral, with impressive depth. It's medium+ weighted and dry with crisp, vibrant, and saliva-inducing acidity with lovely, ripe, and balanced aroma replays of lemon citrus, flinty mineral, and white floral flavours with a twist of honey and some spice notes. Gently tangy and tart on the mid-palate, while flinty-earthy mineral notes linger through to the exceptionally long, lightly chalky textured finish. Tasted July 2023.
Estate Argyros Assyrtiko 2022, P.D.O. Santorini
Santorini, Greece$53.95
From 100+ year-old, ungrafted vines, this has a lovely, medium-high to highly aromatic nose that seems a bit austere with stony mineral, lime citrus, and grapefruit aromas. It's highly concentrated on the full-bodied and dry palate with delicious mineral, lime citrus, and grapefruit flavour replays. Exceptionally well-balanced with a very nicely textured mouthfeel and saline notes on the mid-palate. Stony mineral flavours linger on the finish, with excellent length. Should age gracefully to the early 2030s. Tasted Oct. 2023. Score: 94+ pts

Mid-weighted w/ very good concentration on elegant palate w/ smooth, gentle & refined tannins, along w/ fresh, juicy acidity. Very nicely balanced w/ lovely dark red cherry, strawberry, earthy beetroot & spices, plus touches of plum flavours surrounding a stony mineral core. Supple mouthfeel w/ tea leaf notes emerging on mid-palate, while finish is exceptionally long w/ lingering stony mineral notes. Tasted July 2023.
