Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Estate Argyros Assyrtiko 2022, P.D.O. Santorini
Santorini, Greece$40.00
From 100+ year-old, ungrafted vines, this has a lovely, medium-high to highly aromatic nose that seems a bit austere with stony mineral, lime citrus, and grapefruit aromas. It's highly concentrated on the full-bodied and dry palate with delicious mineral, lime citrus, and grapefruit flavour replays. Exceptionally well-balanced with a very nicely textured mouthfeel and saline notes on the mid-palate. Stony mineral flavours linger on the finish, with excellent length. Should age gracefully to the early 2030s. Tasted Oct. 2023. Score: 94+ pts
Col D'orcia Brunello Di Montalcino 2015, Docg, Tuscany
Tuscany, Italy$55.95
Organic. Lovely, elegant, perfumed and very complex aromas of red cherry, sweet tobacco, earth, and leather with touches of rosemary, herb, dried rose floral, and balsamic wafting out of the glass. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with savoury, earthy, oak, clove, and red cherry flavours. Acids are succulent and juicy while firm tannins are grippy. Savoury, bitter chocolate, and earthy notes linger on the long, persistent, and grippy finish. While enjoyable now, this should improve further with about 3 years in the cellar and drink well into the early 2030s. Tasted Oct/2020.
Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel 2016, Dry Creek Valley
California, Usa$61.95
From vines planted in 1972 on gravelly loam soils called Cortina. The medium-high intensity aromatics seem a bit shy, offering subtle bramble, blackberry, and baking spice notes. The full-bodied, concentrated palate is dry and spicy with more dark berry flavours and polished tannins. Vibrant acidity lifts while the long finish has touches of stony minerality. Still quite young and will improve with time. Tasted Apr/2019.
Lornano Gran Selezione Chianti Classico 2012, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$45.95
Made with 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot that spent 30 months in new oak barrels, this has a fairly intense and maturing nose of sweet spice with hints of dried cherry and floral, and forest floor aromas. It's medium-full bodied with good fruit concentration and balanced, juicy acids. Very nice aroma replays on the palate, joined by hints of leather. Excellent length on the finish, if a touch hot. Tasted Oct/2019.
Vasse Felix Chardonnay 2017, Margaret River, Western Australia
Western Australia, Australia$39.95
Lovely, highly aromatic and very complex nose is buttery, flinty, smoky, and minerally with pear and yellow apple aromas. It has very nice aroma replays joined by saline notes on the full-bodied, concentrated palate. Acids are well-balanced on the long, juicy finish. Gorgeous! Tasted Jan/2020.
Aurelio Settimo Barolo 2017, Docg
Piedmont, Italy$57.95
Beautiful, fragrant, medium-high to highly aromatic nose of red cherry, floral, orange zest, and raspberry notes. It's full-bodied with lovely aroma replays echoing on the structured palate. It has well-balanced acidity and medium-firm tannins, while the finish is long and balanced, with excellent length. Approachable now, but will age. Tasted Oct. 2022.

It's supported by firm, slightly chalky textured tannins that deliver an elegant mouthfeel. Acids are crisp and juicy. Savoury earth notes linger on the finish, with excellent length. Montes Wings Carmenere 2019, D.O. Apalta, Valle De Colchagua
Colchagua Valley, Chile$67.95
This blend of 85% Carmenère and 15% Cabernet Franc has an open, medium-high to highly aromatic nose that is fresh and elegantly herbaceous with currant, cassis, and tobacco aromas adding pleasure. It's medium-full bodied with a tight mouthfeel and lovely, tangy aroma replays of currant and cocoa notes on the flavour profile. It's juicy with fresh acidity, along with green pepper and herbal notes on the mid-palate. Tight tannins lead to a long, youthful finish. Enjoy over the next 10+ years. Tasted Sept. 2023.

Mosel, Germany$37.95
Sourced from red slate soils on extremely steep slopes, this Riesling has a gorgeous, medium-high intensity and finely balanced aromatic nose with honeyed, waxy, citrus, and peach characters. The crunchy, fruity palate is fairly sweet with lovely aroma replays supported by juicy, bright acidity. Slightly chalky mineral textured on the mid-palate. Excellent length that tapers to a dry finish. Tasted Jan/2020.
