Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Kilikanoon Golden Hillside Shiraz 2020, Clare Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$18.95
Fresh, medium-high intensity nose offers dark fruited aromas of blackberry, black cherry, oak spice, mineral, and black pepper spice. The medium-full to full-bodied palate is dry with a plush mouthfeel and smooth, finely textured tannins, along with very good, juicy, and crisp acidity. The aromas echo on the palate, leading earthy and peppery spice notes on the long finish. Tasted May 2025.
Peter Zemmer Pinot Grigio 2024, D.O.C. Alto Adige
Alto Adige-Trentino, Italy$19.95
The medium+ intensity nose delivers ripe citrus, grapefruit, and lemon aromas with touches of orange peel and stone fruits. It has a dry, medium+ bodied palate with a crunchy mouthfeel and silky, well-balanced acidity. The aromas echo deliciously on the palate, joined by spice, leesy earth, and savoury notes. It's nicely balanced throughout with more savoury, leesy, citrus, and apple notes on the long finish. Tasted Oct. 2025.
Boutari Naoussa Xinomavro 2022, P.D.O. Naoussa, Macedonia
Naoussa, Greece$19.95
The fresh, medium to medium-high intensity nose has tomato, bay leaf, red cherry, floral, and savoury earth aromas. The medium+ bodied palate is dry with smooth, textured tannins and fresh, juicy, and crisp acidity. It has nicely balanced aroma replays on the flavour profile, while the long finish is earthy and savoury. Tasted Aug. 2025. Score: 90+ pts
Ambrogio E Giovanni Folonari Chianti Classico Riserva Docg Nozzole 2021
Tuscany, Italy$27.95
100% Sangiovese. The medium+ intensity nose seems a bit shy, yet offers attractively classic Bing red cherry, sweet spice, and clove aromas layered over savoury wet earth. The medium+ to medium-full bodied palate is dry with very nice, well-balanced aromas replay, and supported by balanced acidity and medium tannins. A bit youthful, but still well-balanced throughout with earthy notes lingering on the long, satisfying finish. Tasted Oct. 2024. Score: 91+ pts

Concha Y Toro Winemaker's Lot 148 Carmenère 2007, Rapel Valley, Las Pataguas Vineyard
Chile$15.95
Cork smells of plums, dark fruit and hints of raisin. Inky, smoky, chocolate, cassis, pomegranate and hints of mocha aromas from the glass. Cassis, herbal, white pepper, mocha, milk chocolate notes on the palate. Full bodied red with ripe tannins. Could be aged another 1-2 years, but can be savoured today. Recommended. Tasted Jan/2012.
Muskoka Lakes Winery Red Maple 2007 (375ml)
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Made with cranberries and maple syrup. Closed nose, but flavours of cranberry, caramel and maple syrup come through on the lively palate. Sweetness cut by acidity from cranberries. Very nice! Tasted Aug/2012.
Lomond Syrah 2008, Wo Cape Agulhas
South Africa$18.95
Violet and black fruit aromas from the cork. Crushed black fruits, red currant, prune, all surrounded by forest floor/earthy aromas. Medium-full bodied and complex with more dark fruits, prune, and pepper that give way to vanilla and hints of black licorice and milk chocolate on palate. Very good acidity. Light spice on smooth, long finish. Dusty tannins will still evolve for another 2 years, but drinking great right now. Highly recommended and a steal, if you can get your hands on it. Tasted May 2013.
