Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

2027 Wismer Vineyard Fox Croft Block Chardonnay 2014, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$22.95
Elegant, medium+ aromatics offer nice butter, golden apple, and vanilla notes. Nicely textured with bristling acids on a medium-bodied frame with very nice aroma replays. Just a kiss of sweetness on the flavour profile, finishing with caramel and coconut notes on the long finish. Tasted Mar/2017.
Hazaña Viñas Viejas 2014, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$21.95
A blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, this has a lovely, maturing, medium+ intensity nose that is savoury, woody, baking spice, tobacco leaf, and barnyard, with hints of dried cherry-berry. It is medium-bodied with complex, wood spice driven aroma replays on the flavour profile. It has very good acidity, while tannis are soft, yet still have some grip. Finish length is very good. Tasted Aug/2019.
2027 Cellars Riesling Wismer Vineyard Foxcroft Block 2016, Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$18.75
The medium intensity nose offers orange citrus and some minerality notes, but seems a bit shy. Pleasing aroma replays in a fully off-dry style (i.e. quite sweet) on the palate and lifted by bright acids. Very good finish length. This needs some time to settle and open up. Tasted Mar/2017.
Chakana Estate Selection Red Blend 2014, Luján De Cuyo
Mendoza, Argentina$19.75
Blend of 70% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Dark fruited aromas from the cork - currant, cherry, plum. Medium-high aromatics in the glass lead with florals followed by currant, blackberry, sweet herbs, dark cherry, and hints of wood. The palate is medium-full bodied with structured tannins that are a bit tight at the moment. Bright, juicy acids add freshness. Nice aroma replays on the flavour profile with earthy, mineral and wood notes lingering on the long finish. Age 1-2 years and drink to 2024. Delicious! Tasted Mar/2017.
Arboleda Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2016, Aconcagua Costa
Aconcagua Valley, Chile$16.75
The medium intensity nose is subtle with balanced, oak-influenced aromas of pear, apple, and butter. It is medium-bodied on the palate with nice aroma replays. The texture is a touch creamy. Acids are well-balanced, while the finish length is very good. Tasted Nov/2017.
Flat Rock Cellars Gravity Pinot Noir 2015, Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$34.95
Medium-high intensity nose offers complex oak spice, earth, beet root, currant, and red cherry aromas. On the medium+ bodied palate, the supple tannins are well-integrated with nice fruit and texture. Evolving nicely with very good acidity and pleasing aroma replays on the palate. Currant and berry/cherry notes linger on the long finish. Tasted Mar/2019.
Flat Rock Chardonnay 2015, VQA Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Medium-high intensity aromatics offers nicely focused, clean, gently oaked notes of apple, butter and vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied with a creamy, rounded mouthfeel and slightly sweet flavours of vanilla and caramel atop the ripe fruit. Long, juicy finish. Should have wide appeal. Tasted Mar/2017.
Rocca Delle Macìe Zingarelli Riserva Chianti Classico 2014, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Medium-high intensity aromatics are modern in style with ripe blackberry, oak spices, dark berry and incense notes. The palate is medium+ bodied with nicely balanced aroma replays supported by medium-firm tannins and acids that are a touch sour. The long finish as savoury, curranty nuances. Tasted Sept/2017.
Pierre Sparr Réserve Gewurztraminer 2016, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$18.95
Captivating floral, lychee, rose, grapefruit, and blood orange aromas waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy with lively acids and off-dry aroma replays. It's well-balanced and has a long finish that is a touch bitter. Tasted Sept/2017.
Concha Y Toro Marques De Casa Concha Carmenère 2015, Peumo, Cachapoal Valley
Chile$21.95
This has a ripe, medium intensity nose featuring red and black fruits, oak and hints of herbs and mineral. It's full-bodied and dense on the palate with good fruit concentration and pleasing aroma replays. It's a touch chalky, has balanced acids, and finishes with very good length. Tasted Nov/2017.
