Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Dominio De Tares Cepas Viejas Mencia 2011, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain$24.25
Curranty red fruit, flower and woody aromas from the cork. Medium+ intensity nose that goes back and forth between savoury and fruity with freshly tilled earth, blackberry, dark currant with hints of herb and spice. The palate is medium+ bodied with appealing eucalypt, black licorice, dark currant, earth flavours. Quite complex. It's well-balanced with mouth-watering acids, and in a good place right now. Hints of violet on the long finish. Dusty tannins with good structure will drink well for the next 5-7 years. Perfect for pairing with lamb. Tasted Oct/2015

Medium-to-high intensity nose that's clean and has aromas of lemon/lime, stone fruit, some citrus and mineral which echo nicely on the medium-bodied palate. Made in a dry style with clean acids and very good length on the finish. Refreshing! Tasted May/2016.
Rivera Il Falcone Riserva Castel Del Monte 2009, Doc
Puglia, Italy$24.95
Blend of 70% Nero di Troia and the rest other varieties, this has medium-high intensity aromas of wet earth, dried cherry, barnyard, olive and black pepper. It's medium-full bodied on the palate and maturing quite well with dusty tannins and flavours of olive, earth, sour cherry, and sweet baking spice. Harmonious with balanced acids and long finishing. Boutari Grande Réserve Naoussa Xinomavro 2010
Greece$22.95
Medium intensity aromas of cherry, strawberry, some florals and sweet spices. Supple tannins on the medium-bodied palate with very nice aroma replays. Acids are nicely balanced. Finishes long and dry with a hint of mineral notes. Good tannic structure will allow this to age well. Drink now or over the next 6-8 years. Tasted Nov/2015.
Delheim Shiraz 2013, Wo Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch, South Africa$17.95
Lovely blackberry, brambly dark berry, smoked meat, and peppery aromas sit on top of earthy and savoury notes. It's mid-weighted with spicy peppery flavours, plus dark berry, blackberry and some earthy nuances. It has succulent, balanced acids and refined tannins with just a touch of grip. More minerally and earthy on the finish, with very good length. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Tasted Dec/2018. Score: 88+ pts

From the excellent 2010 vintage, this has medium-high intensity aromas of cherry, sweet oak and spice notes that continue on the medium-full bodied palate, with good fruit concentration. Tannins are medium-firm, with very good acidity and excellent finish length. Drink over the next few years. Tasted Oct/2016. Score: 90+ pts
