Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon 2020, Paso Robles
California, Usa$74.95
Fragrant, highly aromatic nose is sweet vanillin oak spice and ripe, jammy black fruit driven with notes of black plum, blackberry, fine oak spice, cassis & red licorice. On the full-bodied, richly structured palate it has sweet oak vanillin, fresh & ripe black fruit, blackberry, mocha & black plum flavours supported by fresh, well-balanced acidity. Ripe, smooth & refined tannins have a pleasingly mild grip on the back palate that will reward ageing. Vanilla w/ roasted coffee, smoky oak & tangy dark berry notes linger on the long, juicy finish, with excellent length. Tasted May 2023.

It's medium-full bodied on the ripe palate with delicious dark berry, currant, black cherry & blackberry replays joined by plummy notes. Acids are fresh and juicy, while the smooth, refined tannins have a slightly chalky textured mouthfeel towards the back palate. Finishes juicy, long & savoury with stony mineral and subtle oak spice notes on the long aftertaste. Tasted Nov. 2022.

There's good weight on the dry, medium+ bodied palate that is slightly honeyed with ripe apple, lemon-lime peel citrus, saline mineral, & subtle spice flavours, plus orange & melon notes. There's a subtle chalky mouthfeel on the mid-palate, along with clean, crisp & juicy acidity. Minerally with citrus & apple notes lingering on long, juicy, and dry finish. Tasted Dec. 2022.

The medium+ intensity nose is a bit quiet, offering maturing and slightly reductive aromas of dark fruited, blackberry, and black plum surrounding a core of savoury wet earth and sandalwood. On the dry, medium+ bodied palate it is a touch spicy with delicious dark fruited, blackberry, savoury wet earth, and wood spice flavours. Acids are juicy and well-balanced, while the smooth tannins are well-integrated with some chalky textured grip. Savoury earth and mineral notes linger on the finish, with very good length. It's light-to-mid weighted on the palate with fresh, juicy, and bracing acidity that lifts the lovely honeyed, apple, peach, and citrus flavours, gliding over the tongue in an off-dry profile. It's nicely balanced throughout with a subtle chalky textured mouthfeel on the mid-palate, while mineral notes appear and linger through to the long, dry-ish finish. Tasted Jan. 2023.
