Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Tasted 2004 vintage. Aromas of candied oranges, honey and peach from cork. Soft toasted honey notes, slight citrusy aromas in the glass.Honey, peach, nutmeg and orange flavours on the palate. Light texture. Very sweet for a late harvest. Delicious. Tasted Apr/2012.
Concha Y Toro Winemaker's Lot 148 Carmenère 2007, Rapel Valley, Las Pataguas Vineyard
Chile$15.95
Cork smells of plums, dark fruit and hints of raisin. Inky, smoky, chocolate, cassis, pomegranate and hints of mocha aromas from the glass. Cassis, herbal, white pepper, mocha, milk chocolate notes on the palate. Full bodied red with ripe tannins. Could be aged another 1-2 years, but can be savoured today. Recommended. Tasted Jan/2012.
Muskoka Lakes Winery Red Maple 2007 (375ml)
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Made with cranberries and maple syrup. Closed nose, but flavours of cranberry, caramel and maple syrup come through on the lively palate. Sweetness cut by acidity from cranberries. Very nice! Tasted Aug/2012.
Lomond Syrah 2008, Wo Cape Agulhas
South Africa$18.95
Violet and black fruit aromas from the cork. Crushed black fruits, red currant, prune, all surrounded by forest floor/earthy aromas. Medium-full bodied and complex with more dark fruits, prune, and pepper that give way to vanilla and hints of black licorice and milk chocolate on palate. Very good acidity. Light spice on smooth, long finish. Dusty tannins will still evolve for another 2 years, but drinking great right now. Highly recommended and a steal, if you can get your hands on it. Tasted May 2013.
Grant Burge Miamba Shiraz 2008, Barossa, South Australia
Australia$17.95
Tasted 2010 Vintage. Smells dense with smoky, dark fruits, vanilla aromas. Blueberry flavours in the glass with hints of mint, lavender and pepper. Medium-bodied with a medium-length finish. Tasted May/2012.
J. Laurens Le Moulin Brut Blanquette De Limoux, Traditional Method, Ap, Midi, France
Midi, France$19.95
This blend of 90% Mauzac and 10% Chardonnay has fresh golden apple and lemon citrus aromas mingling with yeasty and biscuit notes of generous intensity rising out of the glass. On the crisp, light-to-mid weighted palate it has lightly frothy mousse and more ripe apple, lemon citrus, and yeasty notes joined by lightly honeyed and grapefruit flavours in a dry profile with fresh, zesty acidity. Citrus, apple, and yeasty notes linger on the dry, clean, and crisp finish, with very good length. Last tasted Apr. 2022.
D'arenberg The Dry Dam Riesling 2008, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
Australia$16.95
Apple, toast aromas. Lime, butter, peach/apricot, stonefruit flavours. Tasted Nov/2010.
Rendola Brunello Di Montalcino 2004, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$39.95
Highly aromatic and savoury with mature notes of dried herbs and dried florals. It's medium-bodied with smooth, integrated tannins and very nice aroma replays along with red licorice and leather flavours. It has balanced acids and a bit sour on the very long finish. Drink soon. Tasted Mar/2016.
Wayne Gretzky Estate Series Cabernet Merlot 2007, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
VERY good offering from #99 himself. Lead/pencil/graphite, smoke aromas. All remain on the palate + cassis notes and blackberry. Medium-full bodied with a long finish. Chalky tannins that would have rewarded 2-3 years in the cellar, but definitely enjoyable now. Tasted May/2011.
