Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Wakefield Shiraz 2018, Clare Valley
South Australia, Australia$19.95
Screw cap. The medium-high intensity nose is fresh with herbal, leafy, mint and spice layered over black cherry, plum, and gentle oak aromas. The medium-full bodied palate offers well-integrated oak spice, black cherry, plum, and peppery spice flavours supported by smooth, fine-grained, and sweet tannins. It has fresh, juicy acidity. Pleasantly dry (but undeniably Shiraz) and well-balanced overall with a touch of chocolate on the long finish. Highly recommended buy! Tasted Aug/2020.

Swartland, South Africa$19.95
This blend of 60% Shiraz, 22% Cinsault, 10% Grenache, and 8% Mourvèdre has savoury, meaty aromas joined by black peppercorn and red berry notes. The medium+ bodied palate is spicy with nice aroma replays on the flavour profile and supported by fresh acidity and fine, supple tannins. Very good length on the savoury finish. Tasted Oct/2019.
Lornano Chianti Classico 2016, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Ripe and funky with spices, currant, red and purple fruit aromas. It's medium+ bodied with dark berry, currant, and savoury oak flavours supported by good acidity and chunky tannins that could use year or two to integrate. Very good length on the savoury finish. Tasted Oct/2019.
Rocca Delle Macìe Famiglia Zingarelli Riserva Chianti Classico 2017, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot. The medium+ intensity nose offers bright sour red cherries surrounded by wood spice, earthy, and savoury aromas. It's medium+ bodied on the palate with pleasing blackberry notes joining the woody, savoury aroma replays. It has juicy, balanced acidity, and fine, textured tannins with a pleasing touch of grip. The savoury, wood spice tones continue through to the finish, with very good length. Tasted Sept/2020.
Domaine La Décelle Réserve Valréas 2017, Ac Côtes Du Rhône Villages, Rhône, France
Rhône, France$16.95
Lovely, complex, southern Rhône nose of blackberry, plum, and peppery spice mingling with garrigue, lavender, purple fruit, and some meaty notes. Smoky mineral notes develop with time in the glass. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with ripe, elegant tannins that have a touch of grip. Acids are fresh and juicy, while the flavours are more red fruited and a touch candied on the flavour profile with raspberry, spice, and meaty flavours which linger through to the long, meaty and smoky mineral finish. Recommended buy to enjoy over the next 5-6 years. Tasted June/2020.
Lan Reserva 2012

This blend of 92% Tempranillo and 8% Mazuelo was aged for 18 months in hybrid barrels made of French and American oak, and offers a medium-high intensity nose of dried red cherry and floral aromas with some earth and sweet spice tones. It is medium-full bodied with lovely aroma replays and very good acidity. Maturing tannins fold into the wine quite nicely. The finish is long, balanced, and juicy. Tasted Sept/2019. Score: 90+ pts
Ermete Medici & Figli Concerto 2018, Doc Lambrusco Reggiano
Emilia Romagna, Italy$19.95
Made with the Lambrusco Salamino varietal, this has a rich array of berry aromas including red berry, raspberry, boysenberry, blueberry, blackberry, and cherry notes. The medium-bodied palate is fresh with bright acidity. Nicely balanced red and dark berry replays on the flavour profile with fine, beady mousse that livens the palate. Finely textured with a touch tannic of grip and mineral on the long, juicy finish. Tasted July/2020.
Papale Linea Oro Primitivo Di Manduria 2016, Dop
Puglia, Italy$23.95
The rich, focused nose of medium-high intensity delivers aromas of dark berry, blackberry, currant, bramble, and spices. The chewy, full-ish bodied, structured palate is spicy with some warmth and has slightly sweet flavours of wood spice, tart cherry, dark berry, plum, and touches of leather. Bright, tart acidity lifts the palate, while ripe tannins are smooth with a slightly chalky texture. Finishes pleasantly dry with mineral notes lingering on the long finish. Tasted Apr/2021.
Whitehaven Pinot Noir 2016, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$26.95
A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir from the Awatere and Southern Valleys, this has a medium-high intensity nose that is clean with red and black fruits, black cherry, raspberry, plum, dark berry, and spice, along with some earthy tones and hints of tea leaf. The medium-full bodied palate is structured and quite concentrated with nice red and black fruit replays. Raspberry, tomato leaf, and whiffs of tea leaf and mineral also appear on the flavour profile. Acids are still quite juicy, while the finish length is very good. Tasted Mar/2020.
