Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Salentein Reserve Malbec 2019, Valle De Uco, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$19.95
Lovely, fresh, intense, dark fruited and savoury nose with aromas of ripe blackberry, blackcurrant, earthy, violet, dried herb, and touches of wood spice. It's full-bodied, structured, and concentrated with savoury, earthy, dark currant, blackberry, black cherry, and dried herb flavours. Acids are juicy and succulent, while the youthful, fine-grained tannins have some grip and will soften with some time in the cellar. Structured with savoury, earthy, and wood flavours joined by some tangy berry notes lingering on the long finish. Tasted Feb/2022. Score: 90+ pts
Domaine Bousquet Gran Malbec 2018, Valle De Uco, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$21.25
Blend of 85% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 5% Syrah. The medium-high intensity nose is rich and dark with fine wood spice aromas layered over blackberry, currant, cassis, violet, and vanilla. Full-bodied, structured, and dry on the palate with lightly tangy blackberry, herb, black currant, cassis, wood spice flavours with touches of pepper. Fresh, juicy acids whet the palate, while the youthful tannins have some grip. Savoury wood and spice notes linger on the structured finish, with very good length. Tasted Apr/2022. Score: 90+ pts

Tuscany, Italy$24.95
This blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Malvasia Nera, and 5% Colorino has a medium-high intensity nose that is savoury and earthy, revealing red cherry and florals over time. It's light-to-mid-weighted with pleasing aroma replays that are both and savoury and fruity. There's a touch of grip, along with fresh, balanced acidity. Very good length on the savoury finish. Tasted May 2022.
Château Hauchat 2019, Ac Fronsac
Bordeaux, France$18.95
100% Merlot. The fresh, intense, and perfumed aromas offer lovely red fruited notes of raspberry, cherry, currant, floral rose, and sweet wood spices. On the ripe, sunny, medium-full bodied, and lightly structured palate it has lovely balanced aroma replays, plus sandalwood notes on the flavour profile that are supported by fresh, juicy acidity and smooth, refined, and supple tannins. Dusty textured on the mid-palate, while savoury graphite, mineral nuances join the red fruited and sweet spice notes on the long, elegant, and balanced finish. Tasted Mar/2022. Score: 90+ pts
Esporao Reserva Red 2019, D.O.C. Alentejo
Alentejo, Portugal$28.95
Blend of Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Syrah, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Touriga Franca. The medium+ intensity nose seems a bit shy, offering aromas of sweet wood spice, sandalwood, and ripe dark berries, blackberry, and hints of licorice. It is also very ripe on the medium-full bodied palate with youthful, gritty tannins and fresh acidity. Dark berry, blackberry, sweet wood spice, sandalwood, and licorice flavours on the palate, turning savoury and smoky on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Dec. 2022.

Charles Baker Riesling B Side 2020, Niagara Peninsula

Lovely, medium-high intensity nose is ripe with citrus, lemon, pear, apple, peach, and stone fruit aromas with touches of herbs and honey. On the crunchy, nicely textured, and medium-full bodied palate it has clean, fresh acidity that lift the aroma replays in an off-dry flavour profile. Citrus and herbs with hints of petrol linger on the long, crisp finish. Tasted May 2023.
