Flor De Vetus Verdejo 2015, Old Vines From Segovia, Do Rueda
Rueda, Spain$16.25
This is a fantastic wine. John's review is spot on!
16 Mile Cellar Rebel Pinot Noir 2011, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$22.95
A solid little Pinot with a nice ratio of smooth to grippy tannins. Pretty simple flavor profile of cherry, cranberry and vanilla. Very enjoyable, It's a good price for a hand produced boutique wine.
Castelli Del Grevepesa Clemente Vii Chianti Classico Riserva 2011, Chianti Classico
Tuscany, Italy$23.95
WOW, I'm really high on this wine. It absolutely bridges together Old World structure, balance and grace with bigger New World cherry fruit and sweet oak resin. It starts Old World, with cherries and chestnut flavours but transitions to bigger sweeter cherry tobacco vanilla notes...but then finishes dry with a hint of sour. Like I said, WOW loving this wine.
Laurent Perrachon & Fils Corcelette Morgon 2014, Ac
Beaujolais, France$21.95
No love here. My bottle had a slight sparkle that you find in homemade wine. It's thin, acidic and lacks fruit... basically poor quality.
Mazzei Ser Lapo Riserva Chianti Classico 2012, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Lovely nuttiness to this wine. Big time chestnut, walnut, tree nut, nut flavours...with spicy cherries and mahogany wood. Score = "this Coffee tastes Like shit, mmmm nutty", "Why yes because it is shit Austin"
Château De Lavernette Beaujolais Villages 2014, Ac
Beaujolais, France$19.95
Light and fruity. This is simple and easy to drink.
Barbuntín Albarino 2014, Do Rîas Baixas
Galicia, Spain$14.25
Wow love this wine. It has richness and a creamy body compared to the typical Albarino, but still stays fresh and zesty. Great buy!
Red Hill Estate Pinot Noir 2014, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
Victoria, Australia$19.75
I get lots of tomato plant on the nose and palate. There's also a slight smokiness. I'd say on the savoury side for sure. The palate has slightly rustic tannins that still need time to become plush. This wine is nice, but not overwhelming me with joy.
Lucien Lardy Côte Du Py Morgon 2014, Ac
Beaujolais, France$19.75
Here's what I think. The nose is classic Cru Beaujolais - that is, sweet and sour fruit, flowers, and earthy forest smells. The palate is a little dense and one dimensional - I get sweet tarts (you know, the Candy) with a sour finish...and that's about it. This is a well made wine and perhaps it will age and develop further, but at $25, I think this is a pass for me. On the other hand, I have a sore throat at the moment, so my judgements are not entirely fair...
Cantina San Paolo Aglianico 2015, Igp Campania
Campania, Italy$14.95
Great tonality from sweetness to dry tannins on the finish. Sweet cherries with earthy mushrooms dominate. Hot - steamy - delicious. Remember to decant.
