Seven Falls Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Wahluke Slope, Columbia Valley
Washington, Usa$21.95
Starts with ripe berries and creamy oak - very smooth. The fruit brightens up on the finish and tannins grip just enough to balance everything out. Creamy vanilla oak coats the palate throughout. I can't see anyone disliking this. Great Value!
Candor Lot 7 Zinfandel, Lodi
California, Usa$18.75
This is a classic Lodi Zin that is packed with ripe fruit flavours and vanilla oak resin. Ripe plums, figs, dried fruit flavours, sweet tobacco and sweet vanilla oak. This is definitely not a wine for the critics. However that's not why you buy this wine, you buy it because it's soft, flavourful and delicious. Critical scores aren't everything...if they were, we'd all be drinking lean under-ripe, high acid, minimal oaked boring wines...that are fresh of course...LOL
Cave De Beblenheim Brut Rosé Crémant D'alsace, Traditional Method, Ac, Alsace, France
Alsace, France$19.95
I really enjoyed this little Rose Sparkler. Needs about 15 minutes in your glass to mellow out and then it's really delicious.
Fielding Red Conception 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
Tasted the 2009 vintage. It has a woodsy cedar, cherry and strawberry nose. The palate is smooth, but it's a tad light bodied. The tannins are faint, however it's a noble effort for an entry level wine. Nice sour cherry finish.
Creekside Laura's Red 2007, Queenston Road Vineyard, VQA St. David's Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Here's one of those moments where I'm kicking myself for not purchasing more bottles of the 2007 vintage...this is such a well put together all around wine that provides such drinking pleasure... it's hard not to love it...especially for 20 bucks. Watch my review on niagarawinevideos.com
Cheers.
Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel 2009, California
California, Usa$17.95
Soft, smooth and loaded with flavour. It has enough structure to keep the wine honest so it's not too goopy. It's well made & delicious. Great buy!!!
Masi Modello Delle Venezie Rosso 2009, Veneto
Veneto, Italy$11.95
nice easy going wine...light bodied - offers plum and vanilla. your average Italian table wine.
Cono Sur Visión Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2009, Colchagua Valley
Chile$15.95
Wow did the reviewers ever get this one wrong. Put it in a brown paper bag and taste it blind...without the commercial cono sur label this pinot is a 90 pt'r. Really hard to believe the reviewers missed the the strawberries on the nose and pallet...for me the strawberries are overwhelming. smells like homemade strawberry/ raspberry jam with a hind of smoked meat. the pallet is beautifully textured with medium weight, super silky and delicious. $15 bucks...i'm getting as much as i can!
Umberto Fiore Barbaresco 2006
Piedmont, Italy$18.75
a bit too light - I smell faint strawberries, cherries and smoke. The taste is again faint - walnuts, cherries and smoke? Very light bodied however very well made, perhaps the 2006 vintage was weak? easy finish. A 3 star wine at $17, it's a pass for me - enjoyable but don't waste your money on this. You're welcome.
Hob Nob Chardonnay 2009, Vins De Pays D'oc
Languedoc, France$11.95
Steve I agree with ya on this one. I'd write tasting notes, but they'd be the same as yours. So salute.
