Villa Pinciana Tilaria 2011, Igt Toscana Rosso
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
A very finessed Toscana with just enough fruit to match the acidity. It's very soft and approachable which will make it a crowd pleaser. Lots of red berries - strawberry, pomegranate & cherry but there's also a smoky ash componant that adds complexity. Very balanced.
Seven Falls Merlot 2012, Wahluke Slope, Columbia Valley
Washington, Usa$21.95
nice full throttle Merlot. Loads of fruit with ample oak. Full bodied and smooth. Very American. I love John's remarks...relax my expert friend, it's not that bad...lol
Marchesi Di Barolo Ruvei Barbera D'alba 2013, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$19.95
This is a really nice table wine b/c of it's smoothness. People will definitely appreciate the softness of this wine. It's medium bodied with savoury suave tannins. Black plum skin, sour cherry, walnut and mahogany show up on the nose. The palate is balanced and fresh with some strawberry and black pepper lingering on the finish...(if you really look for it). Recommended!
Domaine De La Madone Le Perréon Beaujolais Villages 2014, Ac
Beaujolais, France$15.95
Here's when I'll be tough for once. I love Beaujolais, but if you drank this for your first, you would probably think Beaujolais terrible. This is well made but, tastes like trash. So technically made but tastes like dung. Skip this, pay $5 more and get something with flavour.
Fontanafredda Ebbio Nebbiolo 2013, Doc Langhe
Piedmont, Italy$19.95
Light and dry, ...I mean super fine grippy tannins. Red berries and rose petals on the nose with Strawberry, cran-raspberry on the palate. Fantastic structure and balance for a table wine. A perfect little gem.
Ontañón Vetiver Viura 2013, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$15.95
White flowers, vanilla oak and some tropical fruit notes. Nice full creamy body.
Cono Sur Single Vineyard Block No. 21 Viento Mar Pinot Noir 2013
San Antonio Valley, Chile$18.95
Ripe and smooth. Sugar coated red berries. A tad sweet, but kept in balance. The finish is luxurious. Buy a bundle, it's hard to find enjoyable Pinot at this price.
Siegel Single Vineyard Los Lingues Carmenère 2012, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$15.75
Sorry James Suckling, I think I'm more with the WA folks on this one. Typical spicy Chilean nose. Harsh and a bit austere. Finishes up dry but again sharp and short. Nice wine but I'm a texture guy and this is not suave or smooth by any measure.
La Crema Chardonnay 2014, Monterey County
California, Usa$26.95
By the depleting quantity available at the LCBO, it's evident that the jigs up on this delicious beauty (Don't believe the critics). This is a beautiful round luscious wine. It's layered with tropical fruit and seductive oak. There's no illusion here, just beautiful Chardonnay bliss.
Georges Duboeuf Morgon Côte Du Py 2011, Morgon
Beaujolais, France$17.95
This is a real juicy Morgon bursting with juicy cherries and strawberries. Medium to light weight. Juicy finish. Light for a Cru Beauj, but so delicious and did I mention it's juicy!
