Wynns Coonawarra Estate The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, Coonawarra, South Australia

Entry-level cabernet sauvignon is rarely this lovely and true to form. The Siding is already approachable, with a delicious core of supple dark fruit including blackberries, dark plums, and blackcurrants. Barrel influence in the form of notes of nutmeg, cloves, and black cardamom adds dimension and appeal, as do savoury nuances of earth and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied and ever so slightly warm, supported by chalky, grippy tannins and succulent acids, while the finish is long and flavourful.

Note - 2024 vintage. Lovely blend, great with risotto. Peach with floral notes on the nose, nice body with great mouthfeel. So easy to drink!

This is a blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon aged in barrel, the classic white Bordeaux model - and one of the best examples from Niagara year after year. I would argue it is Creekside's signature.

Domaine De Bel-air Les Granits Bleus Beaujolais-villages 2022, Ap

Light and fruity, a bit tart on the palate.

Granits Bleu refers to the blue granite soils prominent in Beaujolais. It has the jammy strawberry/plummy fruit aromas of gamay, along with subtle pepper and red rose. But compared to many Beaujolais it is quite firm and rigid, not soft or soupy. That structure is due to the soil, adding a dimension that many Beaujolais don't have. But you need to aerate this wine to allow the fruits and florals to emerge. The length is very good to excellent.

Huge value from a classic Aussie house. This is a very smooth and quite elegant, almost satiny shiraz. The nose is a bit more reserved than expected, but brooding with complex black cherry ,licorice, pepper, violet and wood spice. It is full bodied thick and soft, with very fine talcum tannins.
