Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz 2021, Coonawarra
South Australia, Australia$18.95
Huge value from a classic Aussie house. This is a very smooth and quite elegant, almost satiny shiraz. The nose is a bit more reserved than expected, but brooding with complex black cherry ,licorice, pepper, violet and wood spice. It is full bodied thick and soft, with very fine talcum tannins.

Fantastic - lovely ripe fruit - strawberries and cherries, long finish with mild tannin. Add to the pinot rotation for sure.

Domaine De Bel Air Les Granits Bleus Beaujolais Villages 2022, Ap
Beaujolais, France$19.95
Light and fruity, a bit tart on the palate.
Granits Bleu refers to the blue granite soils prominent in Beaujolais. It has the jammy strawberry/plummy fruit aromas of gamay, along with subtle pepper and red rose. But compared to many Beaujolais it is quite firm and rigid, not soft or soupy. That structure is due to the soil, adding a dimension that many Beaujolais don't have. But you need to aerate this wine to allow the fruits and florals to emerge. The length is very good to excellent.

2024 vintage. Blend of syrah with grenache and carignan that is well priced and has a silky smooth lively palate. Expect fresh aromas of black and red cherry fruit with violets and lemon zest. The palate is midweight and is balanced with soft acidity and mild tannin. Flavourful with good to very good length.
