San Polo Rubio 2021, I.G.T. Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$21.70
Sangiovese with 10% merlot and 5% cabernet franc.
Was very good, double thumbs up; buy again for sure. Had it with spicy sausage, pasta. Open at least 30 mins, 45 better. Nice garnet colour
Triebaumer Zweigelt 2021, Burgenland
Burgenland, Austria$28.90
This is nicely made, well balanced, smooth yet energized zweigelt. The colour is bright purple ruby. Generous aromas include black fruit most like mulberry, with subtle pepper and cedary wood spice. It is medium weight, almost glossy yet nicely juicy and lively on the finish. Tannins are very mild. The length is very good.
Hidden Bench Estate Riesling 2020, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$24.95
This NWAC 2023 gold medalist sports wonderful lift, purity and precision. Riesling's aromatic prowess is front and centre with lifted, ripe pear/melon fruit, subtle petrol and a lovely spice I often get from older vine Niagara rieslings.
Apr 2025 - found it a bit sour on the finish
Liquidity Dividend 2020, Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$40.00
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot
Pecchenino San Luigi Dolcetto Di Dogliani 2022, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$23.95
Delicious - ripe cherry and black pepper with a long, tart cherry finish. Double thumbs up.
Undeniably delicious, this expressive dolcetto leans into the grape’s naturally soft acidity, yet holds its ground with fine-grained, gently grippy tannins. A clean, low-intervention red that lets the fruit do the talking. Bold, juicy, lightly ferrous with a scattering of dried rose petals. Salty and savoury but lifted by sweetly ripened red fruit. Honest, grounded, and unmistakably of its place.
Château Gaillard Beaujolais Villages 2023, Ap, Sustainable
Beaujolais, France$19.95
In the vein of light, chill-worthy, warm weather-friendly reds, here’s lively Beaujolais Villages with more elegance and nuanced complexity than the norm. Finely composed with gentle botanicals, white pepper, a melange of just-ripe red fruit, silky tannins and just enough acidity. Clean and expressive with a dried wildflower that lingers on the finish of notable length. Certified sustainable.
