Vigna Di Pettineo Frappato 2023, D.O.P. Vittoria
Sicily, Italy$25.95
Cherry jam aromas lead on this lightly candied example of frappato. Light, juicy, sweet-sour profile with high drinkability. Tannins are very light and fine, acids frame the candied fruit with wild herbs and rusty iron. Length is very good.
Light and fruity - cranberry, sour cherry and strawberry. Pretty good, and no decanting, but a bit sour in the end.
Sebestyen Kadarka 2022, Szekszárdi
Hungary$25.25
A pure Kadarka with typically pale colour. It's aged only in stainless steel, with classic sour raspberry flavours, juicy, light, bright acids, low alcohol, low tannins, and good length overall. Chill and enjoy.
One of the lightest red I have tried. Bright strawberry with a touch of sour. Light orange cranberry hue in the glass. Interesting but prob not one to stock.
M. Chapoutier Les Vignes De Bila-haut Côtes Du Roussillon-villages 2023, Ac
Midi, France$16.95
2024 vintage. Blend of syrah with grenache and carignan that is well priced and has a silky smooth lively palate. Expect fresh aromas of black and red cherry fruit with violets and lemon zest. The palate is midweight and is balanced with soft acidity and mild tannin. Flavourful with good to very good length.
So good, massive cherry, smooth and no rough edges. Great with Korean BBQ. Amazing value.
Casa Los Frailes Bilogia Monastrell-syrah 2023, Valencia
Valencia, Spain$30.00
From high altitude, biodynamically, dry-farmed vineyards in southeast Spain comes a deeply coloured, robust red with generous aromas of black fruit jam, brown olive, pepper, licorice and cigar. It is open knit, fairly juicy and warm at 13.5% abv. Mild tannin.

Marziano Abbona I Due Ricu Rosso 2021, D.O.C.G. Langhe
Piedmont, Italy$21.95
Delicious - cherry with long, dry, slightly tart finish. Two thumbs up.
This is a seldom seen Piemontese blend of pinot noir, nebbiolo and barbera from a prominent family. It is very well made, smooth and almost rich, with the barbera adding colour and heft. The pinot and nebbiolo dial back some elegance and soften the tannins. The nose shows fairly ripe black cherry fruit with geranium and barrel notes. It is medium weight, smooth.
Mission Hill Reserve Merlot 2022, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$32.95
A sleek, juicy merlot, well-poised with fine chalky tannins and a sense of restraint. Red cherry and ripe plum mingle with gentle spice and well-balanced acidity. Mid-weight with effortless charm. Tidy and textured with memorable length.
Maison Roche De Bellene Cuvée Réserve Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2023, Aoc
Burgundy, France$30.95
A bright and fruity, very pinot noir-like expression here form the 2023 vintage, one of immediate charm and pleasure. Tannins are very fine and silky, and acids comfortably fresh. I like the zest and succulence - it's a fine Bourgogne rouge that delivers all one could hope for in the category.
