Black Hills Nota Bene 2023, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$77.00
37% cabernet sauvignon, 35% merlot and 28% cabernet franc. The higher percentage of cabernet franc lends a welcome juiciness and perfume to the wine. The palate features tannins with grace and grip along with acidity that simmers under the surface resulting in a measured character. Excellent length.
Palacios Remondo La Montesa 2021, Rioja Oriental
Rioja, Spain$26.95
Medium red-garnet colour, likely from a high percentage of garnacha (grenache 92% and Tempranillo 8%). Elegant with its supple tannins and delicate but ripe red fruit. There are not enough superlatives to place upon a wine of this character while being so bloody affordable in today’s market.
Double thumbs up - excellent
Stags' Leap Napa Valley Cabernet-sauvignon 2021
California, Usa$69.95
Delicious. Best after an hour at least.
Tasca D'Almerita Regaleali Lamùri 2020, Doc Sicily
Sicily, Italy$23.95
A succulent, sapid and mineral-rich nero d'avola grown at higher hillside elevations between 450 and 700 meters above sea level. Crunchy, salty, and red-fruited with notes of strawberry jam, white pepper
Bachelder Werner York Chardonnay 2022, V.Q.A. St. David's Bench
Ontario, Canada$39.95
The nose is quite rich and almost tropical with peach-pineapple fruit, well integrated spice, bread crust and nougat. The palate is lovely, very creamy, warming and bright, with a tweak of acetic sharpening the finish. The length is excellent to outstanding.
Torbreck Woodcutter'S Shiraz 2022, Barossa Valley
South Australia, Australia$29.95
Very nice - liked by all with beef tenderloin
