Pago San Gabriel Zubiola 2007, Do Navarra
Spain$20.95
I tried this wine tonight and liked it. For a wine at $20, it's a good value for all that you get. Should be a general crowd pleaser.
Château La Tour De L'évêque Rosé 2010, Ac Côtes De Provence
Provence, France$18.95
Lovely. I love the nose on this one. I picture myself sitting on a patio in Avignon with a bottle of this on the table. A nice dry rose with lots of red fruit and spice.
Domaine Des Malandes Vieilles Vignes Montmains Chablis 1er Cru 2008, Ac
Burgundy, France$29.95
I loved this Chablis. It was very elegant. I did pick up on white pear and floral aromas. Great acidity and the finish was quite long. Nice wine for just under $30!
Star Lane Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Santa Ynez Valley
California, Usa$21.95
A very strong nose on this one. I loved the aromas of grapefruit and lemon with gooseberry. I tried this wine at the actual winery earlier this year (it's really cute) and again today. It's a really interesting Sauvignon Blanc as you can taste both the parts that were fermented in stainless steel and the other parts that were barrel fermented. I always enjoy the wines from the Santa Barbara region.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Napa Valley
California, Usa$29.95
This wine was delicious. On the nose, lots of lemons! It had great mouthfeel, acidity and finish. I think this wine will appeal to most people. I bought a bottle and can't wait to drink it.
Giesen The Brothers Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Marlborough, South Island
New Zealand$19.95
Not the typical grassy New Zealand Sauvignon blanc at all! This wine had great citrus flavours with a long finish. A delicious wine for the money. Great value.
Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir 2008, Willamette Valley, Oregon
Oregon, Usa$42.95
A lovely Pinot Noir from Oregon. Good fruit and spice. Not too fruity. Elegant with good firmness and weight. Pinot lovers will appreciate this wine I think!
E. Guigal Crozes Hermitage 2007, Ac
Rhône, France$28.95
A lovely Syrah for the money. This is a delicious example of how Northern Rhone Syrahs can be. Dry with this great olive aroma. This is a very tasty wine and will probably please everyone at the table. Yum!
Riglos Gran Corte 2007, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$29.90
This wine is big and bold but with ripe fruit. A bit too much alcohol at 15.2%. Wow. You can feel it too. It's a muscle wine. It's mostly Malbec with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. At first taste I liked it but I don't think I could drink too much of this without ending up under the table.
Mission Hill S.L.C. Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2008, VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$23.95
This wine will be a crowd pleaser. Great weight and a nice finish. You'll usually see this type of blend from the Bordeaux region of France. The Okanagan has made a nice example.
