Reininger Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Walla Walla Valley Bottle
Reininger Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Walla Walla Valley
Washington, Usa
$21.95

This is the perfect mix of big fruit that you expect from Washington and the savoury notes that keep it interesting. It's big and ripe with a bit of baking spice, but there's a big earthy, funky (in a really good way) quality to this wine. Big acid and tannin for this price, it tastes like it should be a lot more expensive, plus the finish is quite long. This is one serious, tasty bottle of wine. Don't pass it up. Tasted October 2014.

Mayschoss 140 Jahre Jubiläumswein Trocken Pinot Noir 2013, Qualitätswein, Ahr Bottle
Mayschoss 140 Jahre Jubiläumswein Trocken Pinot Noir 2013, Qualitätswein, Ahr
Germany
$21.95

Such a fun wine to bring to the table. Not often we get to see German Pinot Noir and it's a shame because this one shines. Loads of fresh strawberry and blackberry to go along with the peppery and floral notes. It's mid-weight with big tangy acidity keeping it very refreshing. It's not incredibly complex, but it's incredibly well put together at a very nice price. Snatch this one up while it's still available. Tasted April 2015

Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla, Do Manzanilla Sanlúcar De Barrameda, Spain (500ml) Bottle
Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla, Do Manzanilla Sanlúcar De Barrameda, Spain (500ml)
Jerez, Spain
$20.95

Such a lovely bottle of Manzanilla. I've tried this one a few times and had this particular bottle for maybe a year. This is definitely not the pale lemon colour that has been described or as I remember, as it's almost medium to deep golden as a little cloudy. Despite this, it's still the light-bodied has incredible acidity and nutty and salty tang. I always have difficulty giving notes for sherry, though I can say this one, in particular, is an amazing value and pairs beautifully with olives and Serrano ham as well as my favourite pairing of miso soup and sushi. Tasted May 2014

Girolamo Aglianico 2008, Igp Puglia Bottle
Girolamo Aglianico 2008, Igp Puglia
Puglia, Italy
$16.95

Dark ruby in the glass. Blackberry and blueberry, dark-skinned plum, some smoky notes and what almost seemed like a bit of floral notes on the nose. Firm tannins and refreshing acidity with a nice long finish. Really enjoyed this, especially considering the price tag. Tasted March 2012.

Bodega Del Abad Dom Bueno Crianza 2001, Do Bierzo Bottle
Bodega Del Abad Dom Bueno Crianza 2001, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain
$14.95

How often do you find an 11 year old $15 wine?? For those who like aged wines, this is a true steal. Still, surprisingly, ruby in the glass with aromas of cherries, herbs, and leather. These flavours continue on the palate. A very savoury wine with medium+ tannins, nice refreshing acidity, and a long finish. Make sure to decant! Tasted March 2012.

Rioja Bordón Gran Reserva 2004, Doca Rioja Bottle
Rioja Bordón Gran Reserva 2004, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain
$24.95

Enjoyed this one just as much as the '01. Beautiful nose displaying notes of raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and cinnamon along with some earthy and floral notes. This wine is medium bodied with quite high acidity and medium-low tannins. This is a very refreshing wine with a very long finish. Excellent example of what aged Rioja can be at an amazing price. Tasted January 2013.

Canonica A Cerreto Chianti Classico Riserva 2007, Docg Bottle
Canonica A Cerreto Chianti Classico Riserva 2007, Docg
Tuscany, Italy
$19.95

Not bad, not great, but the inexpensive price tag makes it worth a try. Lots of red and blackberry fruit (more dried than fresh) notes along with a a bit of floral and sweet spice notes. Really juicy on the palate, medium-full bodied, with medium acidity and quite grippy tannins. This has very good length on the finish. Enjoyed this, but was hoping for something just a little more interesting. Tasted November 2012.

Juan Gil White Label De Cepas Viejas Monastrell 2010, Do Jumilla Bottle
Juan Gil White Label De Cepas Viejas Monastrell 2010, Do Jumilla
Murcia, Spain
$12.95

A reasonably put together wine that will please though who enjoy ripe fruit and sweet oak notes. This wine has tons of black fruit and plum that is edging prune along with smoked meat and a bit of vanilla. It's medium-bodied, the tannins are reasonably soft, and the acidity balanced. Not the kind of wine I search out, but it's well made and will please the masses. Tasted May 2012.

Les Hauts De Montfort Les Mégalithes 2009, Minervois

$13.95

Whoa, what a bottle of wine for $14!! Amazing combo of fruit (raspberry and blackberry) and earthiness that is unexpected for the price. The acidity is quite prominent, keeping the wine extremely fresh. This is seriously good juice. Fruit, freshness, earthiness, and cheap price tag........what's not to love??

Mont Tauch Le Tauch Fitou 2009 Bottle
Mont Tauch Le Tauch Fitou 2009
Languedoc, France
$19.95

This is a very dense bottle of wine that really started to show off after an hour in the decanter. Dark ruby and opaque in colour, the nose is dominated by blackberry, blackcurrant, a bit of smoke and earthiness. Medium-full bodied with quite firm tannins and reasonably high acidity and a long finish. Seriously tasty bottle of wine! Tasted June 2012.
