Not a bad little wine, offering up a palate of black cherry, mocha and a touch of spice. Moderate acidity, soft tannins, reasonable length on the finish. Enjoyable at only $14, good BBQ wine. Tasted February 2012.

Alamos Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Mendoza

Not that bad, but was expecting much more from this wine. The nose is grapey, jammy fruit with an underlying smoky bacon and sweet backing spice notes. This continues through on the palate, though there's a bit of herbaceous note to it. Reasonably soft tannins and acidity with a finish that continues with along with the sweet spice and green notes. Can't really complain due to the price, but this is a drop in quality from previous vintages. Tasted July 2012

Kacaba Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2008, VQA Niagara Escarpment

Dark ruby in the glass. Dark berry and a bit of green pepper on the nose. Not very complex. Nice fresh acidity and smooth, supple tannins. Medium-light body. Medium length on the finish. Was hoping for a bit more out of this, especially since I'm a fan of Ontario cab franc. Tasted March 2012.
