Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Old Tawny Port, Douro Valley
Douro, Portugal$28.95
Medium-to-high intensity nose, savoury with dried fig, raisin, prune and blackberry aromas that echo nicely on the smooth palate. It has a sinewy mouthfeel and finishes long and smooth. Tasted Nov/2014.
Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Napa Valley
California, Usa$96.95
Complex medium-high aromas of savoury barnyard and earth, along with blue and black fruits. It's full-bodied with great depth of fruit and very nice aroma replays, plus spiced oak flavours. Very good acids and firm tannins. Excellent length on the finish. Drink now or cellar 4-6 years. Tasted Apr/2015.
Kacaba Cabernet Franc 2013, VQA Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$18.95
Medium+ intensity nose with herbal, green pepper, white pepper spice, black cherry and blackberry aromas. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with white pepper and blackberry flavours. Has balanced acids and medium-long finish with hints of cocoa. Tasted Jan/2015.
Aurelio Settimo Rocche Dell'annunziata Barolo 2010, La Morra
Piedmont, Italy$54.95
Medium-to-high aromatics featuring lovely exotic flower, red cherry and some earthy notes which echo very nicely on the full-bodied palate. It has mouth-watering acids and some heat on the palate but is balanced well by fruit concentration and tannic structure. Excellent length on the finish. Drinking well now but should be better in 3-4 years and drink easily over the next 12 years. Tasted Sept/2015.
Gramona Iii Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature Cava 2006, Do Cava
Penedès, Spain$39.75
Slightly oxidative nose of medium+ intensity with notes of hazelnut, bread, toast and minerals. Crisp, mineral-driven aroma replays joined by grapefruit and lime pith notes on the flavour profile. Fine, luscious mousse. Just a touch of sweetness, but effectively dry due to the bright acids. Long, smooth finish. Tasted July/2015.
Reichsgraf Von Kesselstatt Nies'chen Riesling Kabinett 2006, Pradikätswein
Mosel, Germany$19.95
Medium-high intensity aromas with honey, petrol, and peach notes coming from the glass. On the palate, there is lively acidity and flavours of ginger, peach and slate. Mature caramel notes also come through on the long finish. Tasted May/2013.
Grant Burge The Holy Trinity Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre 2008, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$29.95
Holy moly! This blend of 46% Grenache, 39% Shiraz and 15% Mourvèdre offers gorgeous aromas of red fruit, ripe cherries and subtle milk chocolate. Crushed red berries and blueberries with hints of chocolate and mocha on the palate. Medium-full bodied. Could be aged another 5-6 years. Awesome! Tasted May/2012.
Val Di Suga Brunello Di Montalcino 2010, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$54.95
Medium-to-high intensity nose of earth, brett, red cherry and some wood elements. The palate is full-bodied with chalky tannins that provide very good structure to age well. It has juicy acids with flavours of cherry, wood and herbs. Very good length on the finish. Decant and serve now or enjoy over the next decade. Tasted Mar/2016.
Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Napa Valley
California, Usa$89.95
Medium-to-high aromatics featuring smoky mint, cassis, red plum and floral notes. The palate is medium-to-full bodied, elegant with refined tannins and very nice, balanced aroma replays. It has very good acidity and excellent length on the finish. Delicious! Tasted Apr/2015.
Stratus Red 2012, VQA Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$48.20
Served decanted, this is highly aromatic, offering nicely perfumed bramble, cran-cherry, floral, and sweet baking spice aromas. It's full-bodied with dusty, refined tannins and lovely aroma replays. It has juicy acids, very good tannic structure for ageing, and excellent length on the finish. An elegant wine from a highly prized vintage. Bordeaux blend. Will be better in a few years. Tasted Oct/2016.
