Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Montes Purple Angel 2020, Do Valle De Colchagua
Colchagua Valley, Chile$105.95
Blend of 92% Carmenère and 8% Petit Verdot. The elegant, highly aromatic nose delivers complex black currant, pepper spice, cassis, herbaceous, grilled pepper, and oak spice aromas. The elegance continues on the slender, medium-full bodied palate with lovely, balanced aroma replays on the flavour profile which is supported by fresh, balanced acidity and elegantly refined and integrated tannins. Herbals, grilled pepper, oak spice, and currant notes linger on the finish, with excellent length. Tasted Sept. 2023.
Renato Ratti Marcenasco Barolo 2018, Docg
Piedmont, Italy$52.25
Lovely, open, highly aromatic nose offers pretty red cherry, rose floral, and orange notes. On the medium+ bodied palate it has gorgeously balanced aroma replays joined by some pleasant bitterness on the flavour profile. It's supported by balanced acidity and well-integrated tannins that have some grip and texture which adds to the mouthfeel. Harmonious, long finish. Enjoy into the mid-2030s. Tasted Oct. 2022.
Il Poggione Brunello Di Montalcino 2019, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$76.95
This 100% Sangiovese has a fresh, medium to medium-high intensity nose of savoury, earthy, and wood aromas surrounding a core of attractive rose floral and red cherry fruit. It's medium-full to full-bodied, dry, and crunchy with very nice wood spice driven aroma replays on the flavour profile. It has very good acids and well-structured tannins. The nicely balanced flavours linger through to the long, structured, and firm finish. Tasted Nov. 2023.
Volpaia Chianti Classico 2021, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$37.95
Mainly Sangiovese with a small percentage of Merlot, this has a lovely, medium to medium-high intensity nose of red cherry, floral, rose petal, sweet baking spice, and cinnamon aromas. The medium+ bodied palate is dry and a touch spicy with lovely aroma replays that echo on the flavour profile. It has very good, juicy acidity, alongside smooth, well-structured tannins. Lovely sweet spice and red cherry notes linger on the long, well-balanced finish. Tasted Nov. 2024.
Bachelder Parcelle Haut Ivy & Warren Saunders Vineyard Chardonnay 2022, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$49.00
The subtle nose seems a bit shy, offering delicate, yet complex aromas of red apple, pear, spice, mealy, mineral, and vanilla notes. The flavoursome medium-full bodied palate is dry and elegant with very nicely balanced flavours of red apple, vanilla, and pear replays joined by buttery, flinty mineral, and touches of spice in a complex profile. Acids are very well balanced, while citrus, apple, and vanilla notes linger on the exceptionally long finish. Tasted May 2025.
Col D'orcia Brunello Di Montalcino 2019, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$56.50
Particular clones of organic Sangiovese. Fresh aromas lead with funky reductive characters followed by savoury, wet earth, and clove aromas. On the dry, medium-full to full-bodied palate it has creamy, structured tannins with oak spice, red cherry, floral, and sweet spice flavours supported by very good acidity. Long, structured, and crisp finish. Will be better in a couple of years and drink well into the late 2030s. Tasted Nov. 2023.

Fresh, medium-high to highly aromatic nose exudes elegance with ripe red & black fruits, strawberry, cassis, red currant, wood spices & black cherry aromas, plus savoury cocoa and clove adding further complexity. On the dry, medium-full bodied palate it has an elegant mouthfeel & ripe, fine-grained tannins which support the ripe black cherry, currant, cassis, bright red berry, strawberry, and raspberry flavours accented by fine oak spice. Acids are juicy and well-balanced, with a slight tangy red berry character. Savoury, earthy notes linger on the very long & smooth finish. Tasted Oct. 2024.

The fresh, medium-high to highly aromatic nose delivers bright fruited aromas of currant, cranberry, dark red berry, floral, and minerality in a complex profile. On the dry, medium+ bodied palate it has clean, well-balanced acidity that lifts the aroma replays on the palate with particular notes of mineral, floral, currant, and black cherry. The finish length is excellent with delicious, tangy berry, currant, and cherry notes. Tasted May 2023.
