Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Jean Max Roger Cuvée Genèse 2015, Sancerre
Loire, France$30.95
Faint aromas of lime citrus and white flower from the cork. Seems a bit shy at the moment, but offers ripe yellow plum, white floral, citrus aromas with hints of herbally and stone fruit notes that are quite appealing. It is medium-full bodied with lively acids that cut through the slightly fleshy palate. It's rich with very nice aroma replays plus some grassy flavours with good intensity. There's also a nice mineral edge arriving mid-palate and continues through to the long finish. Lovely wine that should be served with only light chill. Tasted Mar/2017.
Clos Pegase Mitsuko's Vineyard Chardonnay 2014, Estate Grown, Carneros, Napa Valley
California, Usa$34.95
The highly aromatic nose offers smoky buttered popcorn, butter, and golden apple notes that continue on the palate with hints of caramel and butterscotch. Heavily wood-influenced. It's medium-full bodied with bright acids and excellent finish length. Tasted Oct/2017.
Henry Of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Carte Blanche Estate Blanc De Blanc 2012, Traditional Method, VQA Short Hills Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$49.95
100% estate grown Chardonnay, partially barrel-fermented and then aged for 5 years in bottle before being disgorged, this has medium-high intensity aromas that are bready, nutty and lemony. On the palate, it's medium-full bodied with citrus and biscuity flavours, a hint of sweetness that's balanced by lively acids and bright mousse. The finish is long, clean, and dry with hints of mineral. Tasted Apr/2017.
Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County
California, Usa$34.95
Medium+ intensity aromatics deliver currant, cassis, herbs, and oak spice characters on the nose and palate. It's full-bodied with smooth, dense, chewy tannins with some chalkiness. More herbally on the mid-palate with balanced acids. Very good length on the finish. 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec. Tasted Oct/2019.
Burrowing Owl Pinot Noir 2017, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$39.95
Tasted Oct/2019.
Cune Gran Reserva 2010, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$28.95
Blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and 5% Mazuelo. Medium-high intensity aromas have moved into the mature savoury notes of umami, earth, cherry, and sweet spice notes. The palate is medium-full bodied with nicely pleasing aroma replays. Acids are very good and the finish length is excellent. Still many years left to enjoy. Tasted Sept/2016.
Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay 2017, Napa Valley
California, Usa$64.95
Elegant, medium-high intensity nose of apple, pear, buttery, vanilla, and hints of grilled pineapple. The medium+ bodied palate is refined with very nice replays. Shows impeccable balance, with nicely integrated oak and fresh acidity. Excellent finish length. Tasted Oct/2019.
Fattoria Dei Barbi Brunello Di Montalcino 2012, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$54.95
Highly aromatic nose of incense, cinnamon, sweet spice, red cherry, and hints of dried berry and floral notes. It's medium-full bodied with nice aroma replays supported by medium-firm tannins that are softening. Acids are very good, while the finish length is excellent. Enjoy over the next decade. Tasted Mar/2018.
