Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Hidden Bench Terroir Caché Meritage 2012, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$44.95
From the excellent 2012 vintage, this is a blend of 46% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 13% Malbec, offering big complex, plummy, dark fruit, currant, sweet oak, mint and licorice aromas and flavours. Full-bodied with firm tannins and mouth-watering acids on the palate. Long finish. Try in 4+ years and will drink for a decade. Tasted Oct/2016.
Château La Garde 2015, Ac Pessac Léognan
Bordeaux, France$40.75
This blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot offers a lovely dark berry and stone aromas that seem a touch shy at the moment. The structured palate is full-bodied with firm, grippy tannins and fresh, vibrant acids. Nicely balanced aroma replays come through on the flavour profile, while the finish is more stony with excellent length. Needs 3-4 years for tannins to soften. Tasted Mar/2019.
Cvne Imperial Reserva 2014, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$29.75
Blend of 85% Tempranillo and equal parts Graciano, Mazuelo (Carignan), and Grenache spent 18 months in (60%) French and (40%) American oak. Lovely, fairly intense nose offers very complex dark berry, black cherry, blackberry, and black plum aromas, with subtle oak, cinnamon, and spice complementing the dark fruits. The medium-full bodied palate is slightly warm, but the very good fruit concentration holds it all together. Very nice aroma replays are well-balanced on the juicy palate. Nicely balanced overall with smooth tannins and a very long, complex finish. Tasted May/2019.
Château La Haye 2015, Cru Bourgeois, Ac Saint Estèphe
Bordeaux, France$45.75
This blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot has a medium-high intensity nose of red cherry, sun dried cherry, and floral aromas with nice savoury, earthy, oak spice undertones. It is medium-full bodied on the palate with gritty tannins and vibrant acids. Nicely balanced flavours mimic the nose, while the finish is long and well-balanced. Tasted Aug/2019.
Lan Gran Reserva 2011, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$34.95
Blend of 94% Tempranillo and 6% Mazuelo, the medium-high intensity nose has lovely, maturing dried cherry, floral, sweet spice, oak vanillin, earthy, and savoury aromas that also come through on the full-bodied, concentrated palate. It's supported by fine-grained, mouth-coating tannins and juicy acidity which linger through to the long, structured finish. Tasted Sept/2019.
Lungarotti Sagrantino Di Montefalco 2010, Docg
Umbria, Italy$42.95
Highly aromatic nose is on the savoury side with bretty and barnyard notes, along with some cherry, olive, oak and floral. The palate is medium-full bodied with lovely aroma replays and firm, structured tannins. Acids are mouth-watering, and it has a long, dark cherry finish. Excellent! Tasted Oct/2016.
