Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Grant Burge Corryton Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Barossa
South Australia, Australia$32.95
A big wine with blackcurrants, tobacco, smoke, meat and oak aromas. On the palate, there is blackcurrant and red fruits (cranberry and cherry) that are well-integrated with fine tannins. Very smooth. Medium-bodied with a very long finish. Yummy. Tasted May/2012.
Château Des Charmes Chardonnay Paul Bosc Estate Vineyard 2007, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.75
Smoky, mineral and butter aromas. Very smooth on the palate with butter, melon and mineral notes. Full-bodied. Tasted June 2012.
Burmester 10 Year Old Tawny Port, Dop, Portugal
Douro, Portugal$29.95
Lovely nose of brown spices, caramel, burnt sugar, and fig aromas. The full-bodied palate is rich and sweet with white raisin, spicy, fig, and nutty flavours with a smooth texture and nicely balanced acids. Finishes long with spice and nutty notes. Tasted Feb/2020.
Two Hands Bella's Garden Shiraz 2009, Barossa Valley
South Australia, Australia$63.95
Very aromatic herbal, vegetal, licorice and pepper notes. Full-bodied palate offers black pepper, black currants, licorice and violet. Refined tannins present on a well-balanced and very long finishing wine. Gorgeous! Tasted Sept/2012.
Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir 2011, Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley
Oregon, Usa$49.95
Fresh strawberry and red fruit aromas. Light-to-medium bodied with more strawberry and red fruits, along with earth, beetroot and minerals. Very fruit forward with mouth watering acids. Chalky and dusty tannins that could use time. Medium-length finish. Hold at least 3-4 years. Tasted Apr/2013.
Cliff Lede Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley
California, Usa$119.95
Blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and 3% Merlot. Medium-to-high, slightly jammy aromas of plum, black cherry, and sweet oak. On the palate, it's medium-to-full bodied with rich, silky tannins and flavours of mint, cassis, black licorice and vanillan tones. The acids are mouth-watering, while the finish is long and has hints of minerality. A rich wine that should drink well over the next 5-6 years. Tasted Oct/2015.
Faustino I Gran Reserva 1994
Rioja, Spain$72.00
Intense nose offers exotic sweet spices, incense, and savoury/earthy aromas. It's medium-full bodied on the palate with soft tannins and flavours of dried floral, black cherry and sweet spice. Acids are still very good and the finish length is excellent. Tasted Sept/2016.
Poggio Verrano Dròmos 2005, Igt Maremma Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$43.95
This Super Tuscan is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Alicante, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc and underwent malolactic fermentation. Lovely mature nose of violets, dried fruit, and floral with hints of fig, cedar wood, earth and whiffs of prune. On the medium-bodied palate it has earthy, herbal, and resin notes with hints of mint and leather throughout. Some high-toned spice tones and warmth mid-palate is balanced well by fruit, oak and acids and gives way to long, smooth finish. Tannins are almost fully resolved. Should continue to drink well for 4-5 years. Superb! Tasted Nov/2015
Grant Burge 10 Year Old Tawny, Barossa, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$30.95
Aromas of caramel, floral, herbal and touch of earth. Complex palate that begins with candied pecans, followed by burnt orange, and finishes with cocoa. It starts sweet and finishes dry. Lovely! Tasted May/2012.
La Ferme Du Mont Côtes Jugunda Gigondas 2013, Ap
Rhône, France$24.75
This red wine is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, showing medium+ intensity aromas of purple fruit, pepper, plum and hint of meatiness. On the palate, it's medium-to-full bodied with balanced acids and pepper, spice and licorice notes. It has medium-to-firm chalky tannins that would benefit from 2-3 years bottle ageing, but drinking well now. Good structure. Finishes long with violet notes. Tasted July/2015.
