Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Fabre Montmayou Barrel Selection Malbec 2022, Patagonia
Patagonia, Argentina$19.95
The fresh, medium-high intensity nose is plummy and black fruited layered over well-balanced blackberry, mulberry, and cassis aromas, plus some oak spice and savoury earth. The medium+ to medium-full bodied palate is dry and ripe with a smooth, refined mouthfeel and well-structured tannins. Nicely balanced aroma replays in the plummy, black fruit, and blackberry realm. It has very good, well-balanced acidity, while the finish is long and earthy. Tasted July 2025. Score: 90+ pts
Domaine Brunely Ventoux 2022, Ap
Rhône, France$15.95
This blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 20% Carignan is ripe, fragrant, and open, with a medium-high intensity nose of plummy, dark berry, cherry, and savoury earth aromas with touches stony mineral. The medium+ bodied is dry with pleasing replays of plum, black-blueberry, dark cherry, garrigue, and earthy mineral notes with good structure. A touch tight on the mid-palate, alongside fresh and crisp acidity. replays, good structure, touch tight. Well-structured with very good length on the finish. I would age this a couple of years. Tasted Aug. 2025. Score: 88+ pts
Chateau Changyu Moser Xv Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Helan Mountain Range, Ningxia
China, World$24.95
Tasted Jan/2020.
La Posta Pizzella Family Malbec 2018, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$16.95
The soft nose is ripe and plummy with blackberry, mulberry, and peppery spice notes along with a streak of stony mineral. It's soft and rounded on the medium-full bodied palate with oak-influenced flavours of dark berry and earth with a touch of sweetness. Acids are well-balanced while light tannins are well-integrated with a mild grip. Savoury and earthy notes linger on the finish, with good length. A casual, entry-level Malbec that has wide appeal. Tasted Dec/2020.
Frind Big Red 2018, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$26.54
Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon. The medium+ intensity nose is ripe and plummy with a mix of red and black fruits, red cherry, and touches of cedary wood & stemmy characters. On the medium-bodied palate it has delicious ripe cassis, black cherry, blackberry, plummy, and sweet wood spice flavours supported by fresh, well-balanced acidity and supple, structured and slightly chalky tannins. Some minty herbals and leafy notes add complexity on the mid-palate. Juicy & succulent with cedar wood spice and savoury cocoa notes lingering on the finish, with very good length. Tasted Nov/2021.
Tournon Shays Flat Vineyard Shiraz 2013, Pyrenees, Victoria
Victoria, Australia$23.95
The medium+ intensity nose seems somewhat shy, but offers savoury, earthy, and dark fruited aromas with hints of herbal mint. The medium-full to full-bodied palate has lovely, slightly maturing flavours of dark berry, spice, and herbs surrounding a savoury, earthy, and woody core. Some lovely peppery spice notes arrive with time in the glass. It has balanced acidity and gritty, refined tannins that are pleasantly textured. Savoury and earthy on the finish, with excellent length. More Northern Rhône Syrah than Shiraz in style. Tasted Nov/2020. Score: 91+ pts
Flor De Maio Mayflower 2016, Vinho Regional Alentejano
Alentejo, Portugal$13.95
Unoaked red is blend of Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, and Syrah, and has generous aromas of black fruit, blackberry, spice, and black plum with some savoury notes rising out of the glass. It's medium-bodied on the palate with ripe, dark-fruited, blackberry, spice, and savoury flavours. Acids are still fresh, while the rounded tannins are slightly chalky textured. Nicely balanced with very good length on the succulent, savoury and spicy finish. Tasted Feb/2021.
