Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

13th Street Gamay Noir 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.95
Black cherry, burnt toast, smoke, raspberry and some vanilla aromas. Black cherry, raspberry, menthol flavours. Touch of acidity at mid-length, finishes smooth with some bitterness. Medium-bodied. Some light tannins make it ageable, but definitely ready to drink now. Tasted Feb/2011.
Two Oceans Shiraz 2010
South Africa$9.95
Screw cap. Nose seems closed with ripe red fruits, pepper and oak with more of the same on the palate. Some sweet overtones. Medium-full bodied with crunchy, ripe tannins. Quite nice. A great value at $9.95. Tasted Mar/2012.
Château D'argan 2008, Ac Médoc
Bordeaux, France$16.95
Cassis, blackberry and black cherry notes. Some fine tannins remain, could have been aged for 1-2 years, but definitely enjoyable now. Dry, medium-bodied. Very good! Tasted March/2011.
Chateau Des Charmes Aligote, Estate Bottled 2009, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$13.55
Crisp apple, floral, grassy. A tinge of butter. Light, easy drinking white wine reminds me of a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and an unoaked Chardonnay. Quite nice. Tasted Jan/2012.
Château La Verrière 2008, Ac Bordeaux Supérieur
Bordeaux, France$14.95
Cork was a bit dried out, even though it was purchased only in April 2011. Nevertheless, it did taste/smell like very delicious dark chocolate. Gold medal winner in 2010. Aromas of cherries, herbs, smoked wood aromas. On the palate - lots of lilac/violet flavours, plus some toasty smoked oak. Medium-full bodied with lovely, rich tannins. Long finishing fruit. Could have been held for another year, but definitely ready to drink now. Tasted June/2011.
Illuminati Riparosso Montepulciano D'abruzzo 2009, Doc
Abruzzo, Italy$14.00
Intense and fruit-forward with aromas of cherries, red berries, and some raisin/plum. Light-bodied, very smooth with straight red fruits and red licorice. Crowd pleaser. Tasted Nov/2012.
Predator Old Vine Zinfandel 2008, Lodi Appellation
California, Usa$18.95
Red fruits, milk chocolate, earthy, and light oak aromas. Dried cherry, fruit-forward, and some cocoa on the palate. Light to medium-bodied. Lacking a little oak for my palate, but otherwise good structure and well made. Tasted June/2011.
Ferré I Catasús Brut Reserva Cava
Spain$17.05
Apple, lime aromas. Crisp apple and nutty flavours. Dry. It's well made and fills your mouth with bubbles quite well with every sip. Will be enjoying this with Tandoori Chicken on the BBQ. Tasted Sept/2011.
Tierra Alta Reserva Carmenère 2007, Maule Valley
Chile$13.95
Lovely blackberry, mocha, wet earth, flower aromas. Palate has ripe fruit with raspberry at the fore. Dry with a touch of tannin. Medium-bodied. Will pair nicely with the spicy, creamy chicken dish that I will be enjoying tonight. Tasted Sept/2011.
Flat Rock Chardonnay 2008, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
A screw-top, so no smelling of the cork. Apple, toasty oak and mineral aromatics. Citrus and not over-bearing oak on the palate. Light-medium bodied with a long tropical finish. Quite tasty. Tasted Oct/2011.
Smoky, oak aromas. Palate has ripe fruits with oak nuances balanced throughout along hints of tropical fruit sweetness. Full-bodied and very smooth. Tasted June 2012.
