Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Austin Hope Troublemaker, Central Coast
California, Usa$23.50
A blend of 4 grapes (67% Syrah, 22% Mourvedre, 8% Grenache, 3% Petite Sirah) from the 2010 and 2011 vintages. 14.5% alc/vol. Intense smoke and fresh wood plank aromas with undertones of sour cherry. Medium-bodied with flavours of black pepper, raspberry, oak and lots of pepper on the mid-palate. Very well-balanced with very good acidity and a smooth, medium-long finish. Tasted Feb/2013.
Königschaffhausen Steingrüble Pinot Noir 2014, Qba Baden
Baden, Germany$18.95
Strawberry, earth, beetroot and hints of barnyard aromas with ripe fruited aroma replays showing some sweetness. Medium-level tannins, fresh acids, and medium length finish. Tasted May/2016.
San Raffaele Monte Tabor Pinot Grigio 2015, Igt Veronese
Veneto, Italy$15.95
Organic wine. Light aromas of fresh lemon and tropical fruits from the cork. Perfumed aromas of melon, tropical fruit and lemon of medium intensity. The palate is ripe and juicy with good fruit concentration, showing peach, apricot and lemon flavours in a dry style (i.e. not sweet). Acids are fresh, while the finish length is good. Should appeal to many. Tasted Oct/2016.
Arboleda Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Aconcagua Valley
Aconcagua Valley, Chile$19.95
Medium-high intensity nose of currant, cassis, floral, and some barnyard and oak adding interest. It's full-bodied with very nice aroma replays, juicy acids and excellent length on the finish. My favourite of the afternoon. Contains 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Syrah. Tasted May/2016.
Megalomaniac Narcissist Riesling 2015, Edra's Vineyard, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
Medium+ intensity nose has aromas of lemon, petrol and mineral. The palate offers much of the same with a chalky mineral texture and just a kiss of sweetness. Juicy, bright acids hide the sugar, essentially making this a dry Riesling. Finish length is very good. Tasted June/2016.
Karavitakis Winery The Little Prince White 2015, Crete
Greece$11.25
Blend of 2 indigenous varietals: 65% Vilana and 35% Vidiano. The nose is closed at the moment but offers hints of clean, clear mineral, wet stone and rocks - very mineral-driven. It's medium-bodied with a hint of sweetness on the palate and flavours of mineral and lime. It has good, vibrant acids and a medium length finish. Tasted May/2016.
Château Guillou 2014, Ac Montagne Saint émilion
Bordeaux, France$19.95
75% Merlot & 25% Cab Franc. Plummy and milk chocolate aromas from the cork. The nose is not very intense, but offers juicy blackberry and oak along with hints of underbrush and herbal spice aromas. The palate is medium-full bodied and gains volume in the mouth with good fruit concentration. Palate is dry with juicy blackberry, dark fruit, chocolate, earth and well-integrated oak flavours. Appealing sweet spice flavours emerge with time. Acids are very good, balanced. Tannins are finely-grained, dusty, and just a touch grippy. Good length on the finish. Tasted Nov/2016.
Montebuena Cuvée K P F 2014, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$12.75
Screw cap. Nicely appealing mulberry, sweet herbs, freshly tilled earth and red fruit aromas of medium intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with nice aroma replays. Acids are juicy and tannins are ripe and smooth. Forest floor notes linger on the finish. Delicious wine to drink over the next 2 years. Tasted Nov/2016.
Louis Latour Chardonnay Grand Ardèche 2014
Burgundy, France$15.75
Fleshy with apple, pear and notable oak aromas that continue through to the palate with more lemony flavours. Juicy acids. Medium-long finish. Tasted Oct/2016.
Ruppertsberger Linsenbusch Gewürztraminer Spätlese 2015, Prädikatswein
Pfalz, Germany$18.95
Nice floral aromatics plus lychee, stone fruits and mineral of great intensity. Medium-sweet flavour profile is similar to the aromas, with gentle acids and a slightly viscous mouthfeel. Finishes on the dry side. Tasted Nov/2016.
