Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Château Rigaud 2012, Ap Faugères
Languedoc, France$16.95
Blend of 55% Syrah, 26% Mourvedre and 19% Grenache. Black plum, dark fruit and some sweet oak spice aromas from the cork. Initially a rustic earthy nose that gives way to ripe blackberry, black cherry, and hints of floral and sweet oak spice. With air, lovely floral aromas really pop from the glass. Full-bodied on the palate with pretty floral, red and black fruits, and sweet oak spice flavours layered over earth. Slightly tart acids are fresh and juicy. Fine-grained tannins gain texture in the glass. Long, satisfying finish with hints of minerality. Tasted July/2016.
13th Street June's Vineyard Riesling 2013, VQA Creek Shores, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Medium-to-high aromatics showing a somewhat mature nose of petrol along with peach, apricot, and hints of melon. It's medium-bodied with off-dry flavours of orange, peach and lime. It has very good acidity and a chalky, medium-to-long finish. Tasted Sept/2015.
Southbrook Triomphe Cabernet Franc 2013, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$21.95
Blend of 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. Stelvin screw cap. Cocoa-dusted, forest floor and earthy aromas give way to lovely sweet herbs, clove, red floral, black cherry, blackberry notes. The tannins have integrated very nicely, offering a nice and smooth mouthfeel on the medium bodied frame. Nice, sweet-fruited aroma replays - clove, red currant, floral, and vanilla flavours open up nicely with air. Acids are juicy and finish length is very good. In a nice place right now, but will drink well over the next 2-3 years. Tasted Sept/2016.
Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin Red 2011, Wo Paarl
Paarl, South Africa$16.95
Blend of 37% Shiraz, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec. Medium+ aromatic intensity with complex herbal, wild dark/red berry fruit, currant, cassis and elegant oak aromas. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with ripe, supple tannins and flavours of red/black fruits, black cherry, black currant, vanilla and chocolate. Good, balanced acids and a medium-long finish. Tasted May/2015. Score: 88+ pts
J.M. Raffault Les Picasses Chinon 2011, Ac

Fermented in stainless steel and aged in older barrels, this Cabernet Franc has fresh, fruit forward aromas of bing cherry and raspberry. Nice, crunchy, medium-level of tannins on the palate with black cherry, black currant and menthol flavours. It has fresh acids and a lengthy finish. Tasted Sept/2014.

Lily Lily Sparkling

Non-vintage 100% Riesling using the Charmat Method. Medium intensity nose consisting of green apple, lily flower, and mineral, along with hints of citrus and brioche. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh, balanced acids and citrus, lemon, and green apple flavours. Fine bubbles, subtly sweet, and hints of apricot and stone fruit on the lingering finish. Will delight as an apertif. Tasted Sept/2015.

Medium-high aromatics with petrol, mineral, orange, peach and citrus aromas similar to "classic" German Rieslings. Fine aroma replays on the palate, plus Flintstones vitamins flavours. It's off-dry (i.e. mildly sweet) with good acids and lengthy finish. Quite enjoyable! Tasted May/2015.
Waimea Pinot Gris 2014, Nelson, South Island
Nelson, New Zealand$18.95
Medium-to-high intensity, slightly sweet aromas from the glass with notions of honeysuckle, floral and spring flowers. On the palate, it's medium+ bodied with balanced acids and very nice off-dry aroma replays, while the finish is long and smooth. Well-balanced overall. Tasted May/2015.
