Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Sue Ann Staff Sparkling & Sassy Riesling 2011, VQA Ontario
Ontario, Canada$22.75
Lemon, lime, and florals dominate the nose with some undertones of toast and butter. Palate has a fine mousse with lime, floral and mineral flavours on the palate and just a kiss of sweetness on the very smooth, long finish. Enjoyable! Tasted Jan/2014.
Dunavar Muscat Ottonel 2012, Hungary
Hungary$6.45
Screw cap. Medium aromatics showing lime, lemongrass, watercress and fresh herb notes. It's medium-full bodied and off-dry (slightly sweet) on the palate with herbal, lime and lifted floral notes. Also has a slight spritz and some orange notes that show up as it warms up in the glass. Mouth-watering acids and very good length on the finish. Very good bang for the buck and a nice wine to finish off the summer. Tasted Aug/2014
Bollig Lehnert Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Auslese 2009, Mosel
Mosel, Germany$18.25
Smoke, slate, honey and undertones of orange aromas. Lively acidity and balanced throughout with orange and hints of honey flavour profile. Long finish. Delicious. Tasted May/2013.
La Ferme Du Mont La Truffière 2011, Ac Côtes Du Rhone
Rhône, France$15.95
This white wine is a blend of 50% Grenache blanc, 40% Viognier, and 10% Clairette and matured in concrete vats for at least 8 months. Quite aromatic with crisp, fresh herbal, pear, floral and mineral aromas, along with hints of mushroom. Crisp acidity on the medium-bodied palate with floral, leesy, lemon, and grapefruit notes. Extra dry, medium-long finish. Pairs well with lighter seafood dishes, and could also be enjoyed on its own on the patio. Tasted July/2013.

Rosewood Harvest Gold Mead 2011 (500ml)
Ontario, Canada$14.95
Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Raw, dry honey aromas. Off-dry on the palate with light floral and honey notes. Natural acidity takes over at mid-palate, while the finish is medium-long. This wine did pair well and was nicely balanced with the Chicken Tikka with Mango Chutney. Tasted Oct/2012.
Abad Dom Bueno Crianza 2006, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain$15.95
Made using the Mencía grape and highly fragrant with sinewy black fruits, violets, smoky oak and hint of barnyard from the glass. On the palate, it's full-bodied with very nice aroma replays, earthy and elegant oak spice. Big, smooth tannins are still full and integrating nicely. Very good acids and length. Ageing gracefully at 8 years old, will reward further 4-5 years in cellar. Expect some sediment. Reminds me of a Brunello. Amazing value. Tasted Aug/2014.
Mission Hill Five Vineyards Rosé 2010, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$15.95
A lot of bubbles that sink to the bottom for a wine that is not a sparkling wine. Aromas of sweet cherries, sandalwood and grapefruit. Candy covered cherries and blueberries on the palate. Off-dry and absolutely delicious! Will be enjoying this with chicken nachos. If you know someone who is not a wine drinker, this would a be a great introduction to wine for that person. Tasted Sept. 2011.
Errazuriz Estate Pinot Noir 2012, Aconcagua Valley
Chile$14.00
Medium intensity aromas of smoke, earth and beetroot. Light-bodied with notes of plum, cran-raspberry, strawberry and oak on the palate. Good, round tannins. Finish is short and very hot. Tasted Sept/2013.

Lacroix Vanel Fine Amor Pézenas 2008, Ac Coteaux Du Languedoc
Languedoc, France$19.95
About 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah/Cinsault/Mourvedre/Carignan. Black cherry, plum and barnyard aromas from the cork. Medium+ intensity, perfumed nose of dried herbs, garrigue, black fruits, blackberry surrounded by earthy, barnyard elements. It is medium-to-full bodied with chunky, dusty tannins that are slightly drying, but well supported by good fruit concentration. Yummy flavours of violets, black cherry, black berry, and oak spices. It has juicy acids and is long finishing with earthy, black cherry flavours. Fantastic! Enjoy over the next 3-4 years. Tasted May/2016.
Southbrook Vineyards Triomphe Chardonnay 2012, VQA Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$22.95
Screw cap. Fruit-driven apple and pear aromas of medium intensity. Medium+ bodied palate with balanced acids. Apple and pear flavours with a distinct caramel note on the lengthy finish that also shows some minerality. Oak is definitely in the background. Just off-dry and nicely balanced. Serve only lightly chilled. Recommended. Tasted Jun/2014. Score: 88+ pts
