Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Cavino Grande Reserve 2009, Pdo Nemea
Peloponnese, Greece$18.95
Medium-high intensity aromas offer mature dried fruit, floral and sweet spice notes that continue on the medium-bodied palate with pleasing aroma replays and hints of minerality. Acids are still very good, while the finish is long. Tasted May/2016. Score: 88+ pts
Château De La Négly La Natice Rosé 2016, Ac
Languedoc, France$24.95
Made using the saignée method and consisting of 70% Mourvèdre, and rest equal parts Syrah and Cinsault. Enclosed using a glass stopper. Clean, medium-high intensity aromatics offer red currant, strawberry, red cherry, orange blossom and banana notes that echo on the palate, plus some watermelon flavours. It's medium-bodied and dry with crisp, refreshing acids. Some herbally notes arrive as it warms up in the glass. Finish length is very good with hints of earthy minerality. Tasted June/2017.
Rioja Bordón Reserva 2011, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$19.95
Medium-high intensity nose that's heavy on the oak with woodsy, savoury and dark fruit notes - berry, currant and cherry, and toasty oak aromas. It's medium-full bodied with more dark cherry, black currant, and cedar oak flavours on the palate. It has an oak-spiced mid-palate, plus sour acids that are juicy. Medium-firm tannins should allow this to age a number of years. Finish length is very good. Tasted June/2017.
Chapel Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Mclaren Vale
South Australia, Australia$28.95
Medium-intensity nose that's fairly complex with earthy and woodsy notes, plus forest floor, cassis, black fruit, dark currant and leafy aromas. It's full-bodied with bright acids and nice earthy aroma replays, plus hints of mint. It has structured tannins that will soften with time and a long, plummy finish. Tasted June/2017.
Creekside Iconoclast Syrah 2014, St. David's Bench
Ontario, Canada$25.00
Uses declassified Broken Press grapes. Screw cap. Medium-high intensity aromas of freshly cracked black peppercorn, purple flower, dark berry, dark fruit and blackberry notes. The palate is full-bodied with sour cherry, blackberry, pepper, dark fruit and subtle oak flavours with some meatiness underneath. Tannins are medium+ firm, integrating well but still a touch tight. Acids are refreshing, while the finish length is very good and shows some earthiness. Tasted June/2017.
Hidden Bench Rosomel Vineyard Fumé Blanc 2015, VQA Beamsville Bench
Ontario, Canada$29.95
This barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc shows herbally, straw, hay and stone fruit aromas and flavours. It's medium-to-full bodied with a rich and creamy texture that's nicely balanced with well-integrated oak nuances. It has juicy acids and a long finish. Tasted Mar/2017. Score: 90+ pts
Carpineto Chianti Classico 2015, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Canaiolo. The medium intensity nose is a touch ripe and offers red cherry, red currant, earth, forest floor and oak aromas, with touches of barnyard. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and dry with pleasing aroma replays and soft, rounded tannins. There's good acidity and the finish length is very good. Tasted May/2017. Score: 88+ pts
Bodega Piedra Negra Gran Lurton Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$24.95
Tasted Sept/2019.
Viña Olabarri Gran Reserva 2007, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$26.95
The highly aromatic nose offers dried flowers, umami, earth, and sweet spice in a mostly savoury profile. It's medium-full bodied with well-integrated tannins and very nice maturing aroma replays. Acids are still quite fresh even at 9 years old. Lovely floral notes on the long finish. Tasted Sept/2016. Score: 90+ pts
Paco & Lola Albariño 2016, Do Rías Baixas
Galicia, Spain$19.95
Medium+ intensity nose offers stonefruit, peach, tropical fruit and a hint of lychee. Quite complex. It's medium-bodied with clean, bright acids, vague impression of sweetness, but essentially dry. Nice aroma replays on the ripe palate with juicy acids. Finish is long and minerally. Tasted Oct/2017.
