Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Cave Spring Estate Bottled Gewurztraminer 2013, Cave Spring Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$18.95
Highly aromatic nose is effervescent with inviting notes of lychee, mineral citrus and roses. This is fleshy and quite dense on the medium-bodied palate, with pleasingly off-dry aroma replays. It has balanced acids and the finish is long dry. Tasted July/2016.
São Miguel Escolha Dos Enologos 2011, Vinho Regional Alentejano
Alentejo, Portugal$21.95
Medium-high aromatics on the savoury side with smoky oak, barnyard and dark red fruits. It's full-bodied on the dense palate with black plum and cassis flavours. Balanced acids and finishes long. Blend of Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional. Tasted June/2015.
Antica Chardonnay Napa Valley 2014

Medium intensity aromas of pear, apple, white peach and light butter notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with crisp acids and balanced aroma replays. Lasting finish. Tasted Oct/2015.
Keint He Portage Pinot Noir 2014, VQA Prince Edward County
Ontario, Canada$25.00
Medium-high intensity nose has lovely County minerality-driven raspberry and cherry aromas, plus oak spice and a hint of tea leaf. It's light-to-medium bodied with herbally aroma replays. Light tannins are refined and smooth, with fine acids. Nicely textured with a touch of grip on the long finish. Tasted Apr/2018.
Te Pā Sauvignon Blanc 2015
Marlborough, New Zealand$15.75
Nice, elegant and complex nose of passion fruit, guava, grass, gooseberry, and lime. Medium-bodied on the palate with nicely balanced fruit aroma replays. Acids are well-balanced and the finish is long. Very fine effort! Tasted May/2016.
Winzergenossenschaft Königschaffhausen Pinot Noir Rosé 2015, Qba Königschaffhauser Vulkanfelsen
Baden, Germany$14.95
Medium-high intensity nose of strawberry and hints of cherry. The palate is medium+ bodied and fleshy with extra dry aroma replays. Has good acids and decent length on the finish. Tasted May/2016.
Piazzano Blend 2 2013, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
This blend consists of nearly equal portions (34/33/33%) Colorino, Sangiovese and Malvasia nero. Black plum aromas from the cork. Opens with yummy raspberry floral notes that give way to pungent earthy, bay leaf, herbal nose with hints of blackberry and dark cherry. It's light-to-mid weighted on the palate with light, dusty tannins providing texture. Earthy, cherry, and clove flavours, with juicy acids. Long, forest floor, cocoa-dusted finish. Enjoy over the next 2-4 years. This goes well with dark chocolate. Tasted June/2016.
Concha Y Toro Marques De Casa Concha Carmenère 2014, Peumo, Rapel Valley
Chile$19.95
Medium+ intensity aromas are ripe and herbally joined by dark berry fruit, currant and some oak notes. It's full-bodied on the palate with medicinal, cedar oak, and leafy aroma replays lifted by very good acids. Tannins could use a few years to soften. Finish length is very good. Tasted June/2017. Score: 88+ pts
Château Fontenelles Cuvée Renaissance Corbières 2013, Ap
Languedoc, France$19.95
Blend of 55% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 20% Carignan/Mourvèdre. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, and oak spice from the cork. In the glass, there are aromas of black pepper, blackberry and whiffs of violets, herbs and forest floor notes of medium-high intensity. Pleasing aroma replays continue on the medium-full bodied and dry palate with rich, structured tannins and very good acidity. Lovely savoury barnyard, meaty notes arrive with air and linger through to the long, earthy finish. Enjoyable now, but should improve in 2-3 years and drink well to 2024. Tasted May/2017.
St Hubertus Riesling 2014, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$13.75
The medium-high intensity nose leads with mineral-earthy elements followed by some petrol notes and touches of funk (in a pleasing way). It's medium sweet on the nicely textured palate with lime and petrol flavours. Acids are juicy and the finish length is very good. Tasted Feb/2017. Score: 88+ pts
