Rioja Bordón Reserva 2011, Doca Rioja

The classic savoury, oak-driven, sandalwood and cedar-flavoured Bordon style shines through here, with sharp acids...
Quite rustic, richly traditional and volatile-riddled with charm as always. No different nor should it be in 2011....
This is a quite complex, well balanced, old school Rioja with considerable wood, leather, chorizo sausage and spice...

Medium-high intensity nose that's heavy on the oak with woodsy, savoury and dark fruit notes - berry, currant and cherry, and toasty oak aromas. It's medium-full bodied with more dark cherry, black currant, and cedar oak flavours on the palate. It has an oak-spiced mid-palate, plus sour acids that are juicy. Medium-firm tannins should allow this to age a number of years. Finish length is very good. Tasted June/2017.
