Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Concha Y Toro Marques De Casa Concha Carmenère 2014, Peumo, Rapel Valley
Chile$19.95
Medium+ intensity aromas are ripe and herbally joined by dark berry fruit, currant and some oak notes. It's full-bodied on the palate with medicinal, cedar oak, and leafy aroma replays lifted by very good acids. Tannins could use a few years to soften. Finish length is very good. Tasted June/2017. Score: 88+ pts
Château Fontenelles Cuvée Renaissance Corbières 2013, Ap
Languedoc, France$19.95
Blend of 55% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 20% Carignan/Mourvèdre. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, and oak spice from the cork. In the glass, there are aromas of black pepper, blackberry and whiffs of violets, herbs and forest floor notes of medium-high intensity. Pleasing aroma replays continue on the medium-full bodied and dry palate with rich, structured tannins and very good acidity. Lovely savoury barnyard, meaty notes arrive with air and linger through to the long, earthy finish. Enjoyable now, but should improve in 2-3 years and drink well to 2024. Tasted May/2017.
St Hubertus Riesling 2014, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$13.75
The medium-high intensity nose leads with mineral-earthy elements followed by some petrol notes and touches of funk (in a pleasing way). It's medium sweet on the nicely textured palate with lime and petrol flavours. Acids are juicy and the finish length is very good. Tasted Feb/2017. Score: 88+ pts

Medium-high aromatics have a nice mineral, petrol and peach nose. The palate is off-dry with very appealing orange, citrus and some melon flavours, along with touches of minerailty and petrol. Acids are juicy and nicely balanced. The long finish moves towards the dry spectrum. All in all, a very good wine. Recommended. Tasted Mar/2017.

Alpha Estate Syrah Single Vineyard Turtles 2011, Pgi Florina
Greece$21.95
Purple fruit and dark plum aromas from the cork. Pretty colour. Lovely balance between fruit and savoury aromas with a mineral component - blackberry, meaty, with hints of floral and black pepper. The palate is medium-full bodied with fine-grained tannins and dark fruit flavours of blackberry, black cherry, with black pepper nuances mid-palate. Acids are fresh and juicy. Well-balanced. Long, dark berry, earthy, woody finish. Drinking well now, but should be even better in a year's time. Tasted Aug/2016.
