Brancaia Tre 2007, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$23.95
Not much going on at all. Thin and sharp, weak in quality. Just nothing to get excited about. Opened with friends to impress them...what a let down. Was JS smoking cigars when he selected this for WS top 10? disappointed with this wine.
Borgogno Langhe Freisa 2012, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$21.95
This is a charming little wine. I love the old school label. It's charming because it's light bodied but packs incredible structure and finesse. There's hints of sweet cherries, herbs and tobacco. I loved the grippy fresh finish!
Sister's Run Epiphany Shiraz 2008, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$16.95
As Gary Vee says "Oak Monster" Australian makeup fruit bomb - meets herbaceous inspired Rioja. Not a serious wine but a definite pleasure seeker. Love'n this bombastic lip stick wine!
Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Kentucky, Usa$45.95
Sweet vanilla oak with spice, smooth but bold.
Hartley Ostini Hitching Post Cork Dancer Pinot Noir 2009, Santa Barbara County
California, Usa$27.00
Did I mention how Awesome WineAlign is, I just love this website. Anyway's, it's a relaxing moody Sideways Sunday that calls for a Hitching Post Pinot. It's my first, and I gotta say, its fresher than what i was expecting. This is why I think Niagara is still really so undiscovered...it reminds me of a Niagara Pinot, juicy and full of flavour, but balanced and really fresh and grippy. Well made and perfect for any mood - rainy or sunny outside, this is a pinot that slowly works itself into your life.
Stratus Sémillon 2009, VQA Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$24.25
You have to appreciate oak aged wines to truly enjoy this Spicy Oaked lush devil. It has really nice honey dew fruit but the spicy oak is dominating once it warms up in your glass. I appreciated this effort. Fans of California Chards will enjoy this Semillon.
Montirius Terre Des Aînés Gigondas 2007
Rhône, France$24.95
Impressive by all standards...especially since every bottling year after year reflects this high quality. It's full and rich but composed and balanced. I highly recommend!
Château Pech Redon L'épervier 2010, Ac Côteaux Du Languedoc, La Clape
Languedoc, France$24.95
Where do I start? This wine offers a nice old world funky (manure inspired) nose. The start, again is pleasant smooth and flavorful, but the finish is obnoxiously dry and bitter. My wife pointed out that the finish actually tasted like chewing on an aspirin… and after she did, that’s all I could taste.
Tawse Pinot Gris Redstone Vineyard 2011, Lincoln Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
As David indicates in his notes, rich but fresh. I thought the finish was a tad short and it's not as round or lush as I like Pinot Gris to be, however nicely done all the same.
Mayu Reserva Carmenère 2009, Elqui Valley
Chile$17.95
here's a wine with some real tension! It's got a strong spicy bouquet - ...blueberry, smoke, jalapeno brandy liqueur, cigar, leather. the palate is surprisingly smooth, but the tension between oaky fruit bomb and earthiness complicates things, but in a nice way. This wine has a little bit for everybody to enjoy. Great finish!
