I really enjoyed the suave texture of this Syrah/Carignan/Grenache blend. Balance and structure hold up throughout. The flavours need more time to develop, as it's little shy on fruit at the moment. But superb quality for the price.

This blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan from the Languedoc's Fitou appellation around the base of Mont Tauch has a beautiful dark ruby colour with a slight purple hue. It features an expressive nose of rich red and dark fruit, licorice, earthy 'shrooms and garrigue. It delivers more ripe fruit on the palate with sweet spice, anise and earthiness. It is mid weight with grippy tannins and a touch of heat. Very good length. Decanting helps to soften the edges or you can cellar mid term. The South of France delivers on a cold winter's night! Fantastic value - impressive complexity on the nose and palate. There's a notable salinity, which I enjoy. Overall, a very generous and drinkable wine.
