Tselepos Classique Mantinia Moschofilero 2010, Mantinia
Greece$14.75
I wanted to try something different and I found it with this one. I'm a huge fan of Greek wines. This grape variety is called Moschofilero. Not too high in alcohol, it's very aromatic with lively lemon zest. It's tart with a good finish. I liked it!
Maycas Del Limarí Especial Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Limarí Valley
Limari Valley, Chile$19.95
On the nose it smelled a bit green however, I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted it! It had a lot to it. Great fruit, acidity, cedar notes and above all, superb length. Terrific wine for the $.
Champy Signature Pinot Noir Bourgogne 2009, Ac
Burgundy, France$23.95
I absolutely fell in love with the aroma. Notes of herbs and earth mixed with red fruits like sour cherry and cranberry. Dry with some tang. A good introduction to a basic Burgundian Pinot Noir.
Château Saint Roch Chimères 2009, Ac Côtes Du Roussillon Villages
Languedoc, France$19.95
Lots to enjoy with this under $20 wine.
Main grape variety is Grenache with Syrah and Carignan supporting. This wine has lots of sweet, ripe fruit with aromas of "garrige" (think herbs de provence). It has a moderate length with slight heat to it. I savoured this wine with steak and a French film! Oui!
Araucano Syrah 2009, Lolol Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$14.95
Ripe blueberry and mocha flavours. Dry with grippy tannins. Decent length. A very enjoyable wine for just under $15. There's a lot to find in this Chilean Syrah.
Château De Mercey Mercurey 2009, Ac
Burgundy, France$22.95
Want a wine from Burgundy but not the high price? Chateau de Mercey from Mercurey is a great option! A lovely pinot noir that offers those classic Burgundian traits for just over $20.
Finca El Origen Chardonnay 2010, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$10.95
Even at an elevated percentage of alcohol, this wine displayed clean, fresh fruit and mineral tones. Coming from high elevation vineyards in the Uco Valley, this is a Chardonnay that is more cool-climate in character. Approachable and very affordable. Tasted August 2012.
Finca Nueva Fermentado En Barrica Blanco 2010, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$16.95
A very pretty white from Rioja, Spain. Aromas of lemon and other citrus notes jump out of this highly aromatic white. Could it be love at first sniff? Fine integrated use of oak with hints of herbs. Good value. Tasted October 2012.
Michele Satta Bolgheri Rosso 2009, Doc
Tuscany, Italy$0.00
An approachable, no-fuss, crowd-pleasing wine. Ripe fruit with herbal and chocolate flavours. Lots to enjoy with this charming, uniquely blended Italian red. Tasted October 2012.
Château Roquefort Sauvignon/Sémillon 2011, Ac Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France$16.95
A Bordelaise white for all budgets. Aromas and flavours of lemon, white flowers, and cut grass. Theres is plenty to enjoy here. Great value. Tasted February 2013.
