Joseph Phelps Freestone Chardonnay 2008, Sonoma Coast
California, Usa$44.90
A lovely example from the Sonoma Coast. Noticeable oak but not overpowering. Flavours of citrus and baked peaches. Good length.
André Clouet Brut Grand Réserve Champagne, Ac
Champagne, France$42.95
A well-priced Champagne for all the goodness you get from the bottle. It has delicious baked apple notes, brioche and citrus along with a long finish. It's sparkly and lively. I need this for my wine rack.
Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf Du Pape 2009
Rhône, France$48.25
This wine has secured itself a spot in my condo cellar...make it rack. I'm a huge fan of wines from Chateauneuf Du Pape. Whenever I find a fantastic example like this one, I'm transported back to the times I was walking throughout the small village. This wine is delicious. It's a very manly wine. Great weight, flavour and length. It's all perfectly balanced...which would be the feminine side wouldn't you say? :)
Corte Pavone Brunello Di Montalcino 2005, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$49.95
Nice grippy tannins, with a musty rustic aroma...and I mean that in a really enjoyable, fantastic way. Loved this wine. Why am I not drinking more of this?!
Château Larrivet Haut Brion Blanc 2007, Ac Pessac Léognan
Bordeaux, France$41.25
Honestly, this wine is one of the best wines I've tasted all year! If it tastes this good now, think of how great it will be in a year or two?! Everything was wonderful about it - the aromas, mouthfeel, crispness, the incredible finish that lasted what felt like forever. I loved the honeyed fruit on the palate. It was so well balanced by the acidity. I would pay this price for this wine.
Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc 2010, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County
California, Usa$59.00
An oaked Sauvignon Blanc that I really enjoyed! It was quite elegant with the wood not over-powering. Spice, pear, lemon and quince were just some of the flavours and aromas found. Great finish. Not the cheapest of Sauvignon Blancs but it sure is delicious.
Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut Champagne, Ac, France
Champagne, France$91.95
This Champagne is just fantastic. It is beautifully integrated with great acidity and a long finish. There's so much going on in this sparkling gem. The aroma has lots of baked apple and bread but to those who don't enjoy the yeastiness of Champagne will enjoy this wine. The palate offers so many flavours and softness without overpowering yeast. This wine is definitely joining my collection...if it'll last that long. Yum!!
Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve Champagne, Ac, France, Disgorged In 2023
Champagne, France$82.60
Such lively bubbles! The minute you take a sip, it's like a festive party is getting underway. Delicate mousse with great acidity and long finish. Those people who don't like a yeasty Champagne will like this one as it's not too heavy on the toasty notes.
Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi 2007, Igt Maremma Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$103.95
This wine was fantastic. It had such a long, wonderful finish. It is expensive but when you drink this, the price will be far from your mind...until you finish your glass. Great ripe fruit with a wonderful texture.
Taittinger Brut Réserve Champagne
Champagne, France$64.70
Example of a more mature Champagne. Baked apple on the palate with a delicious finish. I would gladly have a few more glasses please!
