Mullineux Kloof Street Chenin Blanc 2021, W.O. Swartland

Fresh, aromatic, with flavours of pear, peach, and citrus. Complex, compelling and a long finish. A fine white, a great value. Tasted Aug 2022.

Tawse Sketches Rosé 2020, Niagara Peninsula Bottle
Tawse Sketches Rosé 2020, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada
$18.95

Apparently a blend of pinot noir, cab franc and gamay. I certainly picked up a bit of herbeceous character from the cab franc and even a bit of beetroot from the pinot. Good complexity and not too austere (6g/L of RS - seems spot-on). A really well made rose, well-priced and a lovely summer sipper. Tasted Aug 2022.

Volpaia Chianti Classico 2020, Docg Bottle
Volpaia Chianti Classico 2020, Docg
Tuscany, Italy
$36.95

A pleasant CC, well-made, but seems a bit tired to me and lacking in the usual CC vigor. Not up to the usual standards of Volpaia for sure. Drink now. Tasted March 2024.

Paitin Ca Veja Nebbiolo D'alba 2017, D.O.C. Bottle
Paitin Ca Veja Nebbiolo D'alba 2017, D.O.C.
Piedmont, Italy
$34.95

If Paitin had put "Barbaresco" on the label and offered it for $34.95, this would be considered a huge bargain. Fine Nebbiolo, with plenty of red fruit, brisk acidity and firm tannin....long finish too. Just entering it's drinking window I should say. Now to 2029. Tasted March 2024.

Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Marlborough, South Island Bottle
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand
$25.95

Crisp, fresh, citrusy yet with an exotic ripe side to it. Complex, long finishing and simply delicious, A superb Sauvignon Blanc. I should think that this is worthy of buying at least 2 -3 bottles. One to try now, the others to see how this ages. I suspect this should hold for at least 4-5 years, Tasted Sep 2022.

Lagar De Codegua Mourvedre Cachapoal Valley 2019, D.O. Rancagua Alto Cachapoal Valley Bottle
Lagar De Codegua Mourvedre Cachapoal Valley 2019, D.O. Rancagua Alto Cachapoal Valley
Cachapoal Valley, Chile
$27.95

Fine Mourvedre here from Cachapoal Valley. Made in a non-manipulative way - without filtration/fining, aged all old oak, wild fermented. And this comes through in a wine full of energy and complex flavours. Not unlike fine Cotes du Rhone Villages. Super wine. I'd suggest giving this another year or so in bottle or decant if drinking now. Tasted Oct 2022.

Emiliana Coyam 2019, Los Robles Estate, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile
$29.95

Cant add much to the reviews already posted here. This is a very fine, flavourful red from Chile, with lovely balance....the fruit, oak, tannin, acidity all spot on. Picked this up at $26.95 ($3 off at the time, which was just a few months ago). However, yet another wine at the LCBO has seen a significant price increase....this is up $5. An excellent wine, Taste Mar 2023.

Malivoire Pinot Gris 2022, VQA Beamsville Bench Bottle
Malivoire Pinot Gris 2022, VQA Beamsville Bench
Ontario, Canada
$21.95

Another very good pinot gris from Malivoire. Crisp, unoaked, with notes or peach, and pear with lemony acidity on the finish. zero grams of residual sugar. I wonder if the wine might even be better with just a few grams of RS, just to temper that acidity a wee bit. Tasted Oct 2023.

Prunotto Barolo 2004, Docg Bottle
Prunotto Barolo 2004, Docg
Piedmont, Italy
$40.95

My notes are from the 2003 vintage. Ripe sweet red cherry, with hints vanilla and dried fruit. While very little iof the wine was aged in small barriques, I do sense a bit of oak on the palate, though it does not detract. Still some firm tannin on the finish. A very good Barolo, especially considering the heat of the vintage. For drinking now, but should hold several more years. Tasted February 2015.
