Chateau De Gourgazaud 2009, Minervois
Languedoc, France$12.95
Cassis, plums, blackberries, and meatiness on the nose. The tannins are soft, there is plenty of dark fruit on the palate, and the wine is medium-to-full bodied. The wine is very well balanced and excellent value.
Trapiche Reserve Syrah 2010, Mendoza
Argentina$11.95
Pepper, blackberry, and leather on the nose. Plenty of juicy fruit with softening tannins. Medium-bodied and excellent value.
Azul Portugal 2008, Doc Ribatejo
Portugal$13.95
Cherries, mint, and spices on the nose. Plenty of juicy ripe fruit on the palate. The wine is medium-bodied and fairly pleasant, but nothing outstanding.
Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011
New Zealand$15.95
Grassyiness, passion fruit, gooseberry, and some earthiness on the nose. Lots of fruit and crisp acidity. Medium-bodied and juicy. Chill well before serving.
Cono Sur Syrah Reserva 2010, Colchagua Valley
Chile$8.95
Intense mintiness, coffee, black pepper, toffee, and a meatiness on the nose. Plenty of fruit of the palate with some strong tannins still prevalent. May improve over the next 2 years.
Fuzion Alta Malbec Reserva 2010, Mendoza
Argentina$9.95
Prunes, herbs, and dark chocolate on the nose. Ripe, juicy black fruit on the palate. The tannins are soft and the wine is medium-bodied and well-balanced. Great value.
Santa Carolina Chardonnay Reserva 2010
Chile$11.95
Lime, orange peel, vanilla, and biscuits on the nose. On the palate, the alcohol stands out a bit and it is a bit flabby. Excellent length though.
Planalto Reserva Vinho Branco Seco 2010, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$14.95
Green apple, lime, and peaches on the nose. Good amount of fruit, light-bodied, and a racy acidity. It fails to excite despite being well-made.
Brigaldara Valpolicella 2010, Doc
Veneto, Italy$14.95
Prunes, spices, and lead pencil shavings on the nose. Quite fruity and drinkable, although the tannins are still a bit bothersome.
Cono Sur Visión Single Vineyard Gewürztraminer 2010, Las Colmenas, Casablanca Valley
Chile$14.95
Lovely wine. Peaches on the nose with some floral notes. Crisp acidity and some spiciness on the palate. Well balanced and juicy.
